Yes, we are all uniquely Americans but our life stories aren't necessarily uniquely American. I mean, a white guy born to privilege makes his way in the world and becomes successful happens in America, Iceland, Ireland, England, Sweden, Norway, Finland . . . It's not a uniquely American.
A Latina girl born into poverty in Puerto Rico moves to the Bronx, attends Princeton, graduates summa, attends Yale Law School, becomes editor of law review, becomes district court judge, becomes appellate court judge, nominated to Supreme Court is uniquely American. Perhaps you know of other countries where that is commonplace. I don't.
By the way, her statement wasn't about you. It wasn't about Annie or any of you other hyper-sensitive shitheads that have a perpetual victim complex. It was about Sotomayor and her life. Whether you like her or not, her story should be celebrated. And It is uniquely American.
oh for crying out loud..like a lot of us haven't had to climb from poverty..what is so unique about that...
it's always...I'm a victim, so I should automatically be appointed to the "highest court of country" because of it..she was horrible as a judge, was overturned numerous times, and is a racist to boot.
get real..
