By the way, her statement wasn't about you. It wasn't about Annie or any of you other hyper-sensitive shitheads that have a perpetual victim complex. It was about Sotomayor and her life. Whether you like her or not, her story should be celebrated. And It is uniquely American.

it's always...I'm a victim, so I should automatically be appointed to the "highest court of country" because of it..she was horrible as a judge, was overturned numerous times, and is a racist to boot.

why in the world do you think the first example is not uniquely american....they are both american stories and unique in and of themselves...i find it passing odd how it is the libs who make race the issue, yet when a conservative does it, they are racist

She was neither a horrible judge, overturned numerous times or a racist. Exactly which race are you referring to anyway?

You think white guys born into privilege doing well in the world is uniquely American? That's just plain bizarre.

I hate to break it to you Yurt and I would have hoped that more than anyone above the age of fifteen with average intelligence would have figured this out on their own: while we all like to think that we are unique and special, we aren't.

And I'm not really making race "an issue." I'm merely pointing out that we do not all have uniquely American stories. Some of our stories are pretty common across the United States, Canada and Western Europe.

Once again, it isn't about you. And Sotomayor having a uniquely American story does nothing to denigrate your "uniquely American" experience to the extend you've had one. Simply because you think your story is uniquely American does not mean that her story is not. There can be more than one uniquely American story. It's not a contest with just one winner.

If you don't think Sotomayor's story is uniquely American perhaps you could tic off a few countries where a story like hers is common.

I get that you don't like her for the reasons you've been told you shouldn't like her, but this reflexive nonsense to deny the obviously true gets really tired really quickly. So does the victim complex.

And yet when her decisions reach the Supreme Court, she has a 60% reversal rate. Actually, with the recent decision in favor of the firemen, I believe the percentage has gone up. To simply talk percentages, however, is somewhat deceiving. Before the Supremes, she has been overturned four out of six times.

Now, while I do not favor her appointment to the highest court in the country, I believe that perhaps too much is being made of these statistics. Then again, I am not a lawyer...


But I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night...

IMO They confuse it with La Raza Unida. (The Party of the United Race).

She's a member of the National Council of La Raza, which is an advocacy group like the NAACP, not of La Raza Unida which is a racist political party.

Both groups names are shorted to just "La Raza" but they are distinctly different groups. One should not be nominated if they are a member of La Raza Unida. While their stated goals may sound admirable, much like many other racist groups published goals do, they are not.

The Supreme Court overturns approximately 75% of the cases it reviews so she's still below the average.

The National Council funded the thousands of protesters in Los Angeles and around the country, with many illegals and legals carrying their own flags. They were protesting the very U.S. immigration laws they were violating. They found it offensive and a violation of their rights that the U.S. dared to have immigration laws to begin with.
