Should we wall off the beaches?

It’s not all it’s cracked up to be, unfortunately.

The only guarantee in life is that it ends. That said, I know a man who was forced to buy it when he refinanced a building he owned that sits on a little creek. He bitched and bellyached about it and a few months later he ended up with a $125K check as a result of his new lender's mandate.

That’s sweet, I’ve always heard horror stories. My friends in Alaska are finding out how worthless Earthquake Insurance is.

I’ve seen it on TV! Big barrier of Flex Seal? They can see through it.

The best solution to coastal erosion is to do nothing and let nature take its course. It is trying to hold back the waves that is the problem. The overwash deposits new sand on the shores and fortifies the shoreline.

When this immigrant landed on the beach, DEMOCRATS deported him.

He didn't have a problem well other than the hurricane, but flood insurance still uncommon in our area unless you sit on a river or stream. Some people have learned that what they thought their regular homeowners covered, it did not, but that is hit or miss when it comes to water damage. When in doubt, loosen a water pipe before heading out of town a few days :awesome:

that you don't see the difference between 90 miles of ocean and no barrier whatsoever is kind of sad, and then schooling someone on "figuring" something out is sad

Scorching desert is better? BTW, the Bahamas are only 57 miles from here. People pour in illegally all day long.

No, his surviving parent asked us to return him, so we did.

At gunpoint.

On January 10, 2000, a Florida state court had ruled that the Florida family court was able to decide the merit of motion related with temporary custody by Lazaro Gonzalez, stating that Elián should stay with the Miami relatives until further custody hearing. However, Ms. Reno presents that the federal courts are responsible for deciding this case, and that the Miami relatives must appeal to the federal court.

A United States district court ruling from the Southern District of Florida that only González's father, and not his extended relatives, could petition for asylum on the boy's behalf was upheld by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. After the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear the case, by order of U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, federal agents took González from the paternal relatives and returned him to his father in Cuba in June 2000.

Take a look at photos of colonial towns. How many of them built homes within a 100 feet of the ocean? Even back then they were smart enough to know not to do that.

Cameras weren't available in the colonial era in the US, were they?

Yes, sometimes the rule of law requires a gun.
