Should Vitter resign?

Actually, it doesn't "Require" anything other than Vitter ordering hookers from the floor. But, whatever. Let's take your version since you want to defend Diapers. Diapers Vitter made arrangements with hookers from the floor of the House. Better?

Damo, just because you have an alternative theory as to what happened than I do does not mean that "my timeline is off." It just means that you have a different view of what happened. Shockingly, your view of what happened is quite charitable to the Republican that discussed his arrangements with hookers on the floor of the House.

Alternative theory? I know that the records did not show him calling them from the floor. That isn't alternative, it is what was reported.

Look. He clearly used hookers, he said so. IMO, it is up to his constituency to decide if that is worth kicking him out over, just like, IMO, it should be up to Weiner's constituents to kick him out. As for resigning, that is up to them, not me.

I didn't and haven't "called" for the resignation of any member of Congress. Resignation is up to them, not me. If I think they've done something wrong enough to merit removal it would be through a far different process than "demanding" a resignation.

I didn't say he called from the floor. I said he ordered them from the floor.

OK.

Right, "ordered hookers from the floor"...

That means the original contact would have to be initiated by him from the floor. It is far more likely that he ordered them previously, and that they called back at an inconvenient moment than it is he was "ordering hookers from the floor"....

As I said, it makes more impact for the "I hate" crowd, it simply isn't what was reported.

Your timeline is off, and you don't like that I was right so you try to dismiss it with an ad hom. Weak as hell...

Do you think he should resign for this misdemeanor after the fact?

Everyone watch in amazement as Ol double Standard Damo contorts himself into one outrageous shape afteranother in his sad attempt at splitting hairs so he won't have to admit his own ridiculous double standard!

You go man...you are the MASTER!

Should he give dancing lessons?

This thread is asking if Vitter should resign over soliciting a prostitute BEFORE he held the office. He was never "caught and prosecuted" for anything. So there is no 'double standard' unless you voted for Vitter to resign.

The original post (below) doesn't say anything about before he held office. Vitter started in state politics in 1992. Phone records show he was calling prostitutes from 1999 - 2001. By this time he was a U.S. congressman.

You're right in saying Vitter was never prosecuted, nevertheless prostitution is still illegal everywhere except for parts of Nevada, as far as I know.

Now that Rep. Weiner has done the right thing, should Sen. Vitter follow suit?

Louisiana Sen. David Vitter, whose telephone number was disclosed by the so-called "D.C. Madam" accused of running a prostitution ring, says he is sorry for a "serious sin" and that he has already made peace with his wife.

"This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible," Vitter said in a printed statement.

"Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling. Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there, with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way."

The Republican senator's spokesman, Joel Digrado, confirmed the statement in an e-mail to The Associated Press.

Deborah Jeane Palfrey is accused by federal prosecutors of racketeering by running a prostitution ring that netted more than $2 million over 13 years, beginning in 1993.

Days after Senator David Vitter apologized for using an escort service in Washington, D.C., a woman who once worked as a prostitute in Louisiana said he was a regular client of hers several years ago while he was a state legislator.

Odd...the people screaming the loudest about Weiner's wiener seem to have fled the thread, for some reason.

Yep, she took a polygraph and was found to be truthful.

What double standard? You have got to be the poster most ready to jump in and ad hom without knowledge or even an attempt to find out. Can you point to a time I have applied anything differently? Let's start with Weiner. Please, find me a post that I treated him any differently. I made fun of him because it is funny, but find something somewhere please or just give up. You aren't even good at this.

Why bother? He flat admitted it. I still believe that had Weiner just said, "oops" rather than tried to blame it all on Breitbart he'd still be a Congressman.

So the criteria for requiring the resignation of any politician are:

1. He/she must have the Dalai Damocles for a constituent.

2. He/she must have initially denied any wrongdoing.

Did I miss any rules?

Republicans were gleefully calling for Anthony Weiner to resign, including House leader John Boehner (and right here and now, I'd like to note that I'm no Weiner apologist . . . not by a long shot).

Based on this moral outrage, I can only conclude that Republicans have decided to turn over a new leaf in the morality department, and we'd better capitalize on it.

I mean, Louisiana Senator David Vitter, caught consorting with hookers, didn't resign . . . guess it slipped the Republicans' minds to call for him to step down (which is why we're giving them a hand and asking for it now).

Newt Gingrich and his many infidelities?

Totally forgot to call him out . . . busy week (and as a reward, he gets a shot at the presidency on the GOP ticket).

How about John Ensign? Hmm . . . two years ago he became embroiled in a sex scandal - and he only recently resigned - amid an ethics investigation.

Republicans must have been asleep at the switch . . . including RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's sexual antics were, apparently, well known - but hey, boys will be boys.

Mark Sanford, the South Carolina Governor with a young, Argentinian mistress, had Fox' help in image rehab - they simply labeled him a Democrat in their chryon and went on their way. But beyond that, state Republicans didn't immediately call for his resignation.

So here we are, and Republicans, boy, they're really ready, now they're ready, to clean house on this whole morality thing. Well, the Democrats' house, anyway...

i am not surprised the left on this board (who posted thus far) ignores that it was dems who were loudest in calling for his resignation, nor am i surprised that the left on this board ignores the fact the same dems are not as vocal in calling for ritter's resignation.....YET....they left here is taking out all their angst on the right.

it was weiner's party who forced him to resign. if you want to whine about a double standard, start with your own party instead of blaming everything on the right....and not surprisingly onceler is not running around calling people out for this as it the left doing it and tff christie is doing it

No. You do not want to understand so you will not.

Resignation is up to the member. If I were a constituent and wanted to remove somebody from Congress I could vote against them, or work for a recall. If I were a member and they broke the law then the Congress could expel them.

You won't see me "demanding" the resignation of anybody.

Which doesn't change my opinion that had he not tried to cover it up and blame everybody but himself the story would have died with one picture of his banana hammock.

Now watch the pathetic troll claim I copied his thread...check the dates...what a moron.
