Seriously... Randal Paul's bigoted statement on Syria.

I don't think so Damocles.

First, where do you get your information that the rebels are killing Christians.
Second, if he were talking about arming rebels why did he include "my kids"?
Third, nobody has suggested arming the rebels, he was discussing the proposed attack on Syria.

Syrian rebels kill 11, mainly Christians, in checkpoint attack
By Dominic Evans, Reuters

BEIRUT - Syrian rebels killed at least 11 people, including civilians, in an attack on a checkpoint west of the city of Homs on Saturday that official state media described as a massacre.

Most of those killed were Christians, activists and residents said. Some were from the National Defense Army, a militia which fights alongside President Bashar Assad's soldiers, and others were civilians, they said.

"Terrorists today committed a massacre, killing 11 people ... in Homs countryside," the state news agency SANA quoted an official as saying.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said rebel gunmen had attacked the checkpoint, killing five militia fighters and six civilians, including two women. It said the rebel fighters had also sustained losses.

...

Second: Via Obama and Trayvon

Third: Benghazi.

Annata, thank you for thanking me on answering this query. Folks, these issues aren't partisan or shouldn't be.

You don't think. But that's beside the point.

I get that from stories like this one:

http://www.persecution.org/2013/08/...ace-existential-threat-as-civil-war-rages-on/

And he mentioned his kids because they could be in the military. He doesn't want to see boots on the ground (his kids) or the rebels getting weapons from us that can be used to attack the Christians who are not participating in the hostilities but are still being killed and kidnapped.

He related his life to those in another nation, my guess is you would cheer on some idiot wearing a Democrat Jersey for doing the same.

There are plenty of innocent people being killed and kidnapped that are not Christians? What's his fixation on Christians unless he is suggesting that a Christian life is worth more than a non-Christian life.

Which is clearly what he is suggesting.

There is only one group that can literally be eliminated, we've called that genocide in the past. It isn't a "fixation" it demonstrates a deeper understanding than you have of what is happening in Syria. His statement notes that he doesn't believe that we should send in troops (his kids) to help out rebels that are killing people in that group in such numbers that they are in real danger of being simply deleted.. and/or bomb Syria in support of groups who have allegiance to groups who have attacked us in the past.

You simply want him to be "evil" in your eyes, therefore in your ignorance you try to spin what he said into a bad light. I understand that, but the only ignorance being spouted here is from you, Jarod. Nor is there any call by any other entity for him to explain his, unsupported by the facts, "bigotry" in the news.

When reality is supporting Rand over your imaginary "suggestion" of bigotry (to paraphrase Desh) maybe it means that reality has a conservative bias?

If that was what he was saying, I wish he would have said that. Instead, he went on a religious right television show and made a statement that could VERY EASILY be interpreted to flame religious bigotry and war based on religious partnership.

If his intent was what you are saying it was, he should have said it the way you did. Not in a way that might spark religious bigotry while inspiring the religious right to support his bid for the Presidency.

The Assad regime is systematically killing Sunni Muslims, so why is Rand Paul more concerned about the Christians the rebels are allegedly killing than the Sunni's Assad is killing?

Ill tell you why, fanning the flames of Christian persecution syndrome will help him to secure that important block of voters in his quest to be President. Damo, you appear naïve if you don't see what he is doing her, open your eyes if you really don't see it.

"...I just don’t want to see my kids or weapons of the United States being used to kill Christians in Syria."

Me either, but why mention the religion, would it be different if they were Jews or Buddhists? I don't want to see my kids or weapons of the United States being used to kill anyone!

Wow, unless he explains this I hope nobody but the biggest religious wack will support this crazy.

Cant imagine why it is that your link doesn't link to his entire commentary. They just take a portion of his comment and run with it. No context or anything. Imagine that.

Oh, great Damo's little yappy attack dog...

The link had audio of the entire encounter, if you bothered to listen.

What he said reflects the reality. "If that is what he meant he should have said that."

He did.

And so far you, and only you, are the only person I know who chose to misinterpret it against the reality to fit your own personal political bias. I'll tell you why, you actually believe he has a chance to run against somebody you hope to win so you will do anything to try to derail that chance. I can't believe that you would believe people here to be ignorant of your bias and naive enough to believe you actually "worried" about his entirely imagined "bigotry".

Your proposition that I am the only one who saw what Randal Paul was doing does not bother me at all. First, I doubt that is true. Second, Just because I have an opinion that is not popular or shared by others does not mean its wrong. Might does not mean right.

He did not say what you described, he said something totally different. Pretend all you want, it does not make it true.

Could Randall Paul run for president, certainty... If GWB could do it, Randall could do it.

Does the idea that Randall Paul could be President scare me, absolutely. Xenophobia in a leader is very frightening.

a) his remarks certainly sound like he only cares about christians. lots of people are dying; but he only cared that his weapons not be used to kill christians. That's what he said.

b) he has no chance for president.

seriously?.....can you link me to where he said "I only care that his weapons not be used to kill Christians"?.......

He did not specifically limit it to Christians, but if you are looking at a mound of dead body's and you exclaim... What a shame the Christians died... What are you led to beleive.

that the bodies in the mound were Christians?......of course, no one pointed at a mound of bodies and said "what a shame Christians died".....so your response looks a little bit stupid.....

Rand Paul is trying buy the Christian base vote, he hopes to win in 2016. He said similar things about Egypt.

Now, Damo someone agrees with me, in your warped mind that must make it more likely I am correct!

I don't think he needs to go looking for that vote, particularly if the Dems anoint Hillary.......and it's logical he would say similar things about Egypt, since the Muslims are killing Christians there as well.....
