Science

We've had a few thousand years of human history to evaluate this, and here's the scoop: science is a good thing. Without it, we've had periods like the Dark Ages. Science has saved a whole lotta people, given us an amazing standard of living, and for you space buffs out there, has even put us on the moon.

Real estate dudes don't really know science. They know real estate. Same with most other people who have expertise in a given area, but haven't really studied science, medicine or any other field in depth.

Let's keep going w/ science. It really is the better option.

Trump knows what science is. He just does not care.

Hence peer review.

Thanks, you took the words right off of my keyboard.

He's right. Science does get it wrong sometimes. But it is a self-correcting field, unlike -- for instance -- the religion that some would replace it with.

Example:

An amateur astronomer discovers a nearby asteroid. She shares her discovery with other amateurs and professional astronomers as well. They name it after her. She watches it nightly and calculates that it is on a collision course with Earth. Professional astronomers look at it from other vantage points and come to the same conclusion. The world panics! Then the asteroid is looked at again, and again, and it is calculated that it's going to miss us. Most people are relieved. RWNJs and religious whackos though are PISSED. How dare they lie to us! Now look! I sold everything I had so that I could get into Heaven! they weep. Science is so stupid and it sucks!

Euler's method!

Real Estate people do not know real estate- ALL THEY KNOW IS HOW TO JACK UP THE PRICE OF PROPERTY TO PAY FOR THEIR COMMISSION ON A SALE.

AND THAT IS HOW THAT IS DONE!

Sure. Degrees in science and math and I still don't understand them.

oh you have multiple degrees in science and math?

well can you be more specific? that is kind of general. It is ok if you don't want to, because when queried I will divulge any information about myself so I will not criticize you if you do not. But, if you are willing to be forthcoming, I will probe

They are biologically male but identify as female. It's really simple.

No because he/she is still biologically 15 years old.

How does that not conflict with your prior statement. The women is still biologically male yet you are letting them identify as a female. Yet someone who is biologically 15 can't identify as 21? That seems very arbitrary. If you are going to use biology aka science to make these pronouncements then you should be consistent shouldn't you?

Sure. Computer science, mathematics and physics.

"Letting them"? They're adults.

I am not aware of any child who identify as an older person. Can you point one out for me?

They don't get this. No matter how many times it's explained to them. We come upon a rock in the road. Science says 'I don't know what's under that rock until I can look under it and examine what I find'. Religion says 'God is under the rock. No need to look. You must have faith'. Every time we turn over a new rock, we learn from it. Religion never learns. No matter how many times we don't find God under there, they keep giving the same answer'.

Real Estate people do know real estate...and know about marketing real estate. I was a real estate salesperson for lots of years.

Bartenders know how to tend a bar. Lots more to tending bar than just making drinks and opening beers. I was a bartender for lots of years also.

I also was a Catholic at one time.

Now I am not a real estate salesman; a bartender; or a Catholic.

Things change.

As the OP states...science is a good thing, even if it occasionally is abused.

I did use a Real Estate agent once to buy a house! Worst decision, I ever made.
Then I used one again to sale that same house! Lost money both ways!

I have not used them since.

Real estate people are a middleman- an overhead, that the world can do without.

But the left is bad about putting the word ‘science’ in front of their proclamations as a way to advance them.

The 55 genders thing for one. Masks, more recently. There is no *hard science* behind either one. And if there’s no hard science, it becomes a matter of cherry picking which scientists you want to appeal to.

That’s the misuse of science. Science was never intended to be used as a political tool or a means to bring about social change.

The left has politicized science just like virtually everything else right up to the NFL and NASCAR.

They’re the worlds worst funsucks. They’re worse than the Christian fundamentalists ever thought about being.

There are now 3 studies related to masks, all w/ the same conclusion. And we have pretty clear anecdotal evidence from areas where there has been more compliance w/ mask wearing, as well.

And it's a fairly universal recommendation from the healthcare & medical communities right now. No one is cherrypicking anything.
