Russia's Catastrophe

NT Times: To Mr. Putin, Ukraine is an artificial nation, used by the West to weaken Russia. He describes it as a cradle of Russian culture, a centerpiece of Russian identity that must be wrested back from the West and returned to Russia’s orbit.

In his eyes, that is the biggest unfinished mission of his 22 years in power, people who know him say.
Similar in concept to the U.S pipedream that was 'Arab Spring'.

So people reasonably believed that Putin taking the rest of Ukraine would be similar to when he took Crimea. Most of OUR TOP GENERALS thought Russia would roll over Ukraine in a couple of weeks.

IF the entire world didn't step up and send aid.

odd that the centerpiece of Russian identity must orbit Russia instead of the other way around.......

I don't think Putin literally sees Ukraine as a vassal state in orbit around Russia.

He doesn't even think Ukraine is a real nation.

He believes sacred Kiev is ground zero of Russian civilization and that the Ukranian cossacks gave their territory to Russia 350 years ago in the Treaty of Pereyaslava.

Vlad thinks one of the great mistakes the Soviet communists made was recognizing a distinct Ukranian identify and giving them their own republic, the Ukraine Soviet Socialist Republic.

Even informed people knew if Putin took Kyiv and degraded the Ukrainian armed forces, there would still be an insurgency for years to come.

It took the ruthless Stalin seven years to subdue a Ukranian nationalist insurgency, and the insurgents barely had anything but some rusty rifles and Molotov cocktails.

Ten years ago the Ukrainian armed forces could barely function and were in no position to engage Russia in open warfare over Crimea. The Ukrainian armed forces had been allowed to atrophy since the end of the Cold War. And Ukrainian politicians were reticent to build up a powerful army which might have provoked the Kremlin.

The US and NATO started training Ukraine ten years ago, and Ukraine independently made great strides in standing up an effective fighting force in the last decade.

I got that far and couldn't stop laughing.

Do you have any NATO hegemonic plans obtained by Pravda ?

Haw, haw..............................haw.

New York Times is an independent newspaper outside government control, and has a history of exposing even malfeasance and lying in the American military. Since you are naive about journalism, I suggest you look up the Pentagon papers.

Your favorite sources of journalism - Pravda and RT - are, unlike the NY Times, under strict government control and under orders to publish Kremlin propaganda.

Let's not forget that Manafort installed a pro Putin govt in Ukraine. The weak defense was by design

Imagine bombing your holy, sacred city into rubble to "save" it.

It's a strange way to "liberate" people.

I'm not actually sure whether or not the Old City or any of the religious monuments have been bombed.

But regardless, he ensured generations of Kyiv residents will hate Russia

Just read an article this morning that stated Putin's days are numbered. This coming from former Putin loyalists who are taking the temperature of the citizens.

Also interesting is that Ukraine has been hitting targets inside of Russia, as I had called for.

Still, Putin continues his war crimes. By the time he's gone, there will be no infrastructure left inside of Ukraine.

I am actually not that optimistic of Putin being removed in the next few years. I hope I am wrong.

The way that Putin has eviscerated Russia's free press, opposition parties, and civil institutions, the road back to incipient Russian democracy is probably a long one.

Something the ex-IMPOTUSx2 of the U.S. was hoping for here.

If you don't know that all US mainstream media publishes according to the Benjamins then you're even more naive than I thought.

There's more than one way to control the media.

One country has most of its infrastructure destroyed, has no heat or lights, has suffered tens of thousands of casualties and its only hope is being propped up by the free money and weapons of the west. The other country has lost some lives, some money and some prestige but has suffered no damage at home otherwise. Imagine calling the war a catastrophe for the second country. LMAO! Talk about whistling past a literal GRAVEYARD! Only in Libtardvania where the narrative being shaped is always much more important than reality. And people like Desh have the audacity to to try and talk about FACTS?

How Putin's War on Ukraine Became Russia's Catastrophe

President Vladimir V. Putin’s war was never supposed to be like this. When the head of the C.I.A. traveled to Moscow last year to warn against invading Ukraine, he found a supremely confident Kremlin, with Mr. Putin’s national security adviser boasting that Russia’s cutting-edge armed forces were strong enough to stand up even to the Americans.

Russian invasion plans, obtained by The New York Times, show that the military expected to sprint hundreds of miles across Ukraine and triumph within days. Officers were told to pack their dress uniforms and medals in anticipation of military parades in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.

But instead of that resounding victory, with tens of thousands of his troops killed and parts of his army in shambles after nearly 10 months of war, Mr. Putin faces something else entirely: his nation’s greatest human and strategic calamity since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Pre-war Predictions:

Putin and MAGA-->

Whoops. How MAGA predictions came back to bite them :)

In interviews, Putin associates said he spiraled into self-aggrandizement and anti-Western zeal, leading him to make the fateful decision to invade Ukraine in near total isolation, without consulting experts who saw the war as pure folly. Aides and hangers-on fueled his many grudges and suspicions, a feedback loop that one former confidant likened to the radicalizing effect of a social-media algorithm. Even some of the president’s closest advisers were left in the dark until the tanks began to move. As another longtime confidant put it, “Putin decided that his own thinking would be enough.”

The Russian military, despite Western assumptions about its prowess, was severely compromised, gutted by years of theft. Hundreds of billions of dollars had been devoted to modernizing the armed forces under Mr. Putin, but corruption scandals ensnared thousands of officers. One military contractor described frantically hanging enormous patriotic banners to hide the decrepit conditions at a major Russian tank base, hoping to fool a delegation of top brass. The visitors were even prevented from going inside to use the bathroom, he said, lest they discover the ruse.

I hope someone close to him kills him and stops this evil.

Because you are the shittiest American who ever lived

He doesn't know what he's saying. He'll just take the position favoring any American enemy and troll. Ask him what he means. He'll run away. He's not here to debate. He's here to troll. He's sick. Period.
