Republicans don't have the balls!

No, you're a liberal sweetheart, you just tell people you are independent because you are ashamed of your nuts. No one expects you to do anything other than vote for Obama, he could be convicted of murdering Michelle, and you'd still vote for him. All of you lefties are absolute hypocrites, you'll sachet around here talking about how you don't like that Obama did this or that, and he's not what you bargained for, and how you 'strongly condemn' his actions in Libya and renewal of the Patriot Act, as well as other Bush policies.... and come November, you'll trot your happy liberal asses off to the polls to reelect him.

Blue jeans!

Odd, I don't remember saying any business closed down the last time it happened.

Not even a mediocre deflection attempt, PiMP.

Your memory is, of course, infallible and omniscient.

Naturally, you didn't attempt to research the issue, did you?

Please link to the post that proves that I said any business closed as a result of the Gingrich/Clinton shutdowns, which happened November 14 through November 19, 1995 and from December 16, 1995 to January 6, 1996 .

Then, when you've concocted what you think is a snappy retort in lieu of the above, you'll read this report, won't you, dumbass?

???....perhaps it's just because you're a bit slow today....my point was, the last time the government shut down there was no record of it putting companies out of business.....there is also little liklihood that companies would go out of business if the government shuts down this time....that being said, I would rather the government didn't shut down and it would be a shame if the Democrats were so fucking stupid that they would let it happen just because they weren't willing to do what two thirds of the country are DEMANDING they do.....

they shoved health care down your throat? how so? do you have to pay for it by force at this time? just how did "they" do it?

short memory?.....by passing it without Republican support....the same way they could have passed any budget the Democrats agreed to....

Democrats won a popular election running largely on a platform and campaign that repeatedly, vocally included implementing a plan for universal healthcare. Winning an election on that and then following through on the promise is hardly ramming it down anyone's throat.

Elections have consequences....

you mean like in 2010?.....

Let's see those polls.

I saw this one:

"Nearly half of all Americans have an unfavorable view of the tea party movement, putting it in the same company as the Democratic and Republican parties, according to a new national poll.

This is the first time that a CNN poll has shown the tea party's unfavorable ratings as high as those of the two major parties," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland."

then again 59% of independents think it would be better to shut down the government until the parties agree on specific budget cuts....

Yes? And?

yes and this thread is about the possibility that the government will get shut down because of a failure to agree on specific budget cuts....that makes the poll far more relevant than one about peoples opinions of the TEA party.....the request for polls stemmed from Onceler's claim the Republicans were pissing off independents as you might recall.....

Of course, this assumes that the House thing would pass the Senate, which it will not. And this is exactly what I mean when I say that Republicans, having won the House, think it means they get to do whatever they want. It doesn't work that way.

The point, my dimwitted friend, is that Obama cannot veto a bill (aka "force a shutdown") if the bill never makes it to his desk (aka is not passed by the Senate). This thing passed by the House will not pass the Senate.

lol....who is the dimwitted one nigel? it passed the senate, but you refused to consider that it would....

going to admit you're wrong? :)

I was right! They did not have the balls, they gave on just about every sticking point there was!

When it comes to outcomes in American politics, the opinions of the independents are what matter most, as they decide the outcomes of elections.

A new poll from the Pew Research Center shows that as the visibility of the Tea Party movement has increased over the past year, so have its negatives.

The survey found that currently just 22 percent of respondents "agree" with the Tea Party, while 29 percent said they "disagree."

Another 49 percent said they either had no opinion or hadn't heard of the Tea Party.
The numbers mark a turnaround from November, when Tea Party activists helped Republicans net 63 congressional seats and retake control of the House.

Last fall, 27 percent of those polled said they agreed with the Tea Party's views, compared to just 22 percent who said they disagreed.

I don't know what Obama's position is on the cuts, but the Dems only wanted a spending freeze, and then allowed for 6 billion in cuts. They negotiated all the way up to 33 billion, and at the last minute, agreed to more than 38 billion dollars in cuts.
