Republicans are in full damage control mode

It is going to get much worse for Republicans. They have been holding off on enacting and enforcing anti-abortion laws so as not to give voters examples of what this all means for America. They have even denied some of the few cases where their laws have been enforced (Everyone remember the 10 year old rape victim who had to flee to another state). They cannot do this forever.

A month and a half from now, voters will not have in their mind any cases where anti-abortion laws were catastrophic. Two years from now, voters will have in their mind cases where doctors were arrested for trying to save the lives of women, and of women who died from laws that banned their reasonable treatment.

Most voters support legal abortion, but do not care much about it when Roe V. Wade guaranteed it whoever they voted for. They could vote for a Republican, knowing he could not outlaw abortion. Now they can no longer not care. They will know for sure they have to care in 2024.

I have said it before, and I will say it again, this may well be the last hurrah for the Republicans. They have really made a severe strategic mistake.
What mistake would that be?

I can spell it out again. Before voters who wanted to keep abortion legal could vote for Republicans without having to worry, because Roe v. Wade kept them from doing anything to change the legal status of abortions. Now a vote for a Republican is a vote to make abortion illegal. I believe in 2024 that will really hit home. There will be doctors who have been locked up for trying to save women's lives, and there will women who died because it was illegal to save them.

So repealing Roe v. Wade was a politically strategic mistake.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree...it's not a concern...Everyone has stocked up on the abortion pills and medically necessary procedures will always be available....Perhaps it might have been an issue for a week or two, but now everyone's concerns are their bills... and their children who are here....and getting this country back to normal... that is what will get people out to vote...
Things will change....

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

We will have to wait and see. It is hard to disagree the current facts, that most voters are for keeping abortion legal, but they do not think it is a major issue. The question is when they start seeing doctors being arrested, and women dying, will they then start seeing it as a major issue. When people they know begin having real problems, will they begin seeing it as a major issue.

it's not a concern.

The Republican leadership would disagree with you there.

Everyone has stocked up on the abortion pills and medically necessary procedures will always be available.

You are drifting into a fantasy world. The problem is the voters make well wake you up.

I'm being realistic...you should try that.... People can't afford to put food on their table... they can't walk safely in their neighborhood...their children aren't being properly educated...and so much more... Those will all be tops on the ballot... It's fairly easy to avoid needing to have an abortion with a bit of care and common sense...people are waking up to that... That doomsday attitude of arrested doctors and dead women needs to change...

I'll give you libtards credit you've patiently spent decades making people so stupid that they thought they had a right to abortion and now don't realize they still can get an abortion. What you cum stains have done to America is evil.

Everything you said brought discourse lower and was the Skeleton of Rush Limbaugh and closer to death of consciousness, the final cancer writ large. You think you're making a point but in reality you are vomiting on shared humanity but are clearly too much a cattle prodded dumbass to realize it. Sucks to read you. No really, I got more stupid reading that. My posting this just made me muddy, like you.

Fucking sux.

I actually feel bad for myself and need counseling after responding.

Thanks man.

People can't afford to put food on their table.

Biden has had one of the greatest drops in child poverty ever. If the election is judged on who has gotten children fed, the Democrats will win every time.

That doomsday attitude of arrested doctors and dead women needs to change...

You make abortion illegal, doctors will have to be arrested, and women will die. You may debate it is worth it, but it is just lying to say it will not happen.

Are you talking about the baby formula shortage? Yes, supplies dropped.

So? Go to a state that it's legal.

There was a story on the local news last night about how clinics in Michigan are being overwhelmed by the numbers of women coming here for abortions because it is banned in their home states. In some cases there are waits for appointments up to 3-4 weeks. This alone is dangerous; the further along the pregnancy, the more dangerous the procedure. This fall we will be voting to amend our constitution to keep Michigan a free state, and to keep (R)s from turning us into a forced-birther slave state.

It almost sounds like Top was in a fantasy world when he claimed, "everyone has stocked up on the abortion pills." I think he believed every woman, and girl in America immediately bought 100 abortion pills just in case.

I am pretty sure you can only buy an abortion pill with a prescription, which means you have to need it immediately. You cannot "stock up" on them.

Which party should be in full panic mode?

Ham up 2.5 percent from July and 9.2 percent compared with a year ago.
Frankfurters (hot dogs) up 5.3 percent from July and 18.3 percent compared with a year ago.
Eggs up 2.9 percent from July and 39.8 percent compared with a year ago.
Bread up 2.2 percent from July and 16.2 percent compared with a year ago.
Doughnuts up 2.0 percent from July and 14.1 percent compared with a year ago.
Pickles up 4.0 percent from July and 19.4 percent compared with a year ago.
Margarine up 7.3 percent from July and 38.3 percent compared with a year ago.
Butter up 2.7 percent from July and 24.6 percent compared with a year ago.
Sugar up 1.8 percent from July and 15.9 percent compared with a year ago.
Potatoes up 3.1 percent from July and 15.2 percent compared with a year ago.
Lettuce up 10.7 percent from July and 0.8 percent compared with a year ago.

Most of the Republican Party seems to be losing their minds to anger. It is disturbing to watch. You try to give them dry statistics, and they answer back they want to kill your children.

In their defense, they're essentially being told, by Trump and others, that their vote means nothing because any election they lose was actually stolen by Democrats.

They've also been convinced that the entirety of the federal justice system and law enforcement is just an arm of the Democratic party so, if Durham doesn't bring charges and get a conviction, it's because Democrats stole that too.

I think we'll see a lot of Republican politicians, at all levels, softening their stance on abortion, much like Democrats, after Trump won, distanced themselves the far-left woke contingency of the party.

IMO, it's the MAGA R's that may hurt the party politically.

I like to believe this is the beginning of something great. Always at the beginning of something great, like the Neolithic Agricultural Revolution, or the Industrial Revolution, there are some who suffer and go a little crazy. Maybe the alt right is that group for the Technological Singularity.

That is a lost cause.
With your attitude, the USA would've never became a sovereign country in the first place.

The Supreme Court years ago gave Congress power to regulate anything that "affects" interstate commerce.
SCOTUS doesn't have the power to change the Constitution.

When it can regulate marijuana because the grandmother who uses weed in her home is affecting the market price, it can regulate abortion.
Congress has no power to regulate marijuana or abortion.
