Rep Paul Ryan's freedom of silence

He could have stopped them from acting so physically towards his constiuent! I think Romney would have done so.

His speaking should come with a warning label, you will be arrested for interrupting the Commrade Ryan.

I know you believe he is blameless in this matter, but I see this as another black eye for the guy.

M'eh. Brother Perry isn't enjoying my support at the moment. Too much social "conservative" for me.

I said there is a difference between free speech and disruptive speech. If you think that is fascist then I can't help ya.

It's only fascist when "we" do it. Remember the "free speech zones" with Clinton? Remember the dudes getting arrested just for wearing shirts under their other shirts? BFGN is one huge hypocrite, it's only "wrong" when somebody he disagrees with...

It was ironic that he chose that poster to make his "point" in this thread.

when you calm down and start acting like an adult, I would ask that you go back to my earlier comments where I explained it in detail to you.

The short version.... free speech does not give you the right to shout others down in any forum of your choosing. Specific forums have specific rules that are to be followed. If you do not follow them, you will be asked to leave. The part where you continually FAIL to comprehend is the fact that EVERY OTHER PERSON IN THAT ROOM HAS RIGHTS TOO. The old man was violating THEIR rights. They PAID to HEAR from their Rep. This was NOT a town hall meeting, despite the fact that a Q/A was scheduled.

Try walking into a restaurant or place of business and just start shouting your views at people. See how fast you too are escorted out.

Freedom of Speech does not mean you can say anything you want, wherever you want, any time you want, however you want without any potential consequences.

So it is not REALLY a freedom, it is a privilege. The individual does not get to REALLY be free to speak, he is only allowed to say what doesn't upset collectivism.

LMAO.... the problem Rana is that PRIOR to this guy getting escorted out, others had already been escorted out. So it is quite likely that upon the initial outbursts the Rotary provided guidelines for what would get you tossed. Over 20 people escorted out.... only three arrested. Hmmmm....

I knew that more information would lead to a different image of what transpired at that time. Others had already been escorted out, most were not arrested. I'm going to be "surprised" when we find out that they were with a group that were there to 'disrupt' the proceedings and had direct information exactly like those provided to the "TEA Party" dudes...

Does anybody remember when they came back just before the health care fiasco and they wouldn't let anybody in with a differing opinion? The union thugs ensuring it? There's threads about it on this board...

the statement offered by Greenfield Interim Police Chief Brad Wentlandt - "The event was a private function, held on private property," Greenfield Interim Police Chief Brad Wentlandt said. "The Whitnall Rotary was the host and in control of the banquet hall, thereby having the right to allow entry, refuse entry or demand that anyone be removed who they did not want there....We had a procedure in place where a member of the rotary — the property 'owners' for the event — would ask the unruly person to sit down and be quiet," Wentlandt said. "If the person refused, then law enforcement would step in and make the same request. If the person continued to refuse, they were escorted out. If they did not resist, they were escorted to the doors and off the property. If they continued their behavior or resisted, they were arrested."

ooops....

Oh yeah, the local cops, of whom were promised exemption from Ryan's union busting tactics in return for their political endorsement.

The event was a "pay for view" town hall in which Neilsen had a PAID TICKET for....so some of the charges against him were bogus. Seems Ryan tried to pull a Reagan....meaning you have a controlled audience while trying to appear to the public as a forum open to random questions. So you can repeat your mantra until doomsday, SF, but in leiu of all the nonsense the teabaggers pulled at town halls (and were NOT arrested), I daresay that not only Ryan is a hypocrit, but so are his advocates.

Dumb. There was a Q&A section where what he wanted to say was supposed to happen. I'm even willing to bet that some more intelligent creatures were there to ask those questions and were able to. It's the fact that he was stomping on the rights of others that were assembled to actually hear the man speak and then ask questions, in that order.

Then don't vote for him. Do you think we really care what you asswipes think of us? We're on a mission and could not care less.

Yeah, oops, Supershill.

The video clearly shows that was NOT the procedure.

No, the video does not show that. You have NO clue whether this guy did anything PRIOR to that video. You have NO clue what was said as the other 20+ people were escorted out. Over 20 people asked to leave. 3 arrested. While I too do not know what transpired other than what was on the video, I would say only 3 being arrested showed they were following a set procedure.

Yeah, police intervention is always the way to go!

See folks, when I dismissed this asshole for not being able to produce the information to back up his claim, he followed me around like a maddened child sticking his tongue out. I ignored him, and NOW Alias let's slip his TRUE nature. See, the little dope spews fascist sentiments by NOT being able to disprove the FACTS I put forth, but by alluding to NOT caring that Ryan was wrong with his quasi-fascist actions, because "we're on a mission".

Alias is a complete neocon/teabagger doormat, because he just doesn't get the FACT that Ryan and the Koch brothers DO NOT CONSIDER FOLK LIKE ALIAS AS PART OF THE "WE". Alias is not rich and NOT a politico with a 6 figure salary. What Alias is actuallly, is a working class drummer with a little money in the bank, a pension or 401K that's still working, and a Soc. Sec. check due in.....as long as Alias is NOT directly affected by Koch whore Ryan's policies, he doesn't care....but he sure as hell will blame everyone else BUT his masters when the shit lands in his backyard (higher taxes, higher COLA, bad products from corporations, worsening public services/utilities, etc., etc.)

Back into the dumpster with this Alias imbecile!

It just boils down to Ryan doesn't want opposition in his face. He wants it all neat and tidy and favorable! I would say the same of the Dems who pulled the same stunt.

I NEVER supported "free speech zones" by any public servant. Bush was the worst violator, were YOU critical of Bush when he did it?

"Free-Speech Zone"

The administration quarantines dissent.

LOL. Man, that's beautiful. I have had more fun today than anyone should legally be allowed to have. Lefty heads are exploding all over this place.

Yeah... That was just sick... harassment.

Dude, be careful. Certain states have cyberbullying laws and this would be a clear violation. I have edited the post. You may want to give it a break between you and Dune. The give and take may escalate into areas that cross lines you are not even aware of.

One. Can you find any business owners who support Obama's jobs bill?

1. What bill? A simple HR number would do.
2. Apple will support it because the guy has a D next to his name. Even if the bill was to nationalize all businesses "temporarily". Apple would then find an excuse as to how it will be "good", once we are back on our feet people can start over...
