Probably because so many LWLs have called every Republican a fascist since the 60s that the term has lost its meaning. Same thing for the word "racism".

Exactly. And don’t not mistake my criticism of the words with criticism of the policy behind those words. I believe for example in single payer. But when packaged correctly it very popular. Call it socialism and it’s dead.

The problem is that those aren't accurate catchphrases. Very handy for the opposition, though. Given the diversity in the Dem. party, they're going to have to find a way to balance getting the youth vote via the AOC demographic, without the idiotic rhetoric that comes from her mouth.

Luckily, when trump fades like the stench of a fart in a gymnasium, Republicans will be easier to deal with.

Agreed the verbiage is important. "Words matter". OTOH, if a person feels they've been tricked into buying a pig in a poke, they'll never trust you again. Both Democrats and Republicans have done this, but the Democrats, the Party of "We Know What's Best For You....under mandate of law", have been many more times guilty of it than the Republicans.

The Republicans, while still often liars, cheaters and scumbags, are more direct in their greed. Sure, "trickle down economics" was a big lie but so is "we don't want to take your guns". Frankly, I don't trust either one of those groups and never will....unless one or the other has an extreme personality makeover.

FWIW, just like male and female, there will always be a LW POV and a RW POV.

That's the problem with catchphrases. "Hands up, Don't Shoot" was a grossly inaccurate depiction of the Officer Wilson and Michael Brown incident. Yes, there's a problem, but lying about the problem to make a point is wrong.

Agreed the opposition is going to jump on catchphrases and use them for their own benefit...even if it, too, is a lie.

It takes Two to Tango, but only One to make War. Should a Husband or Wife "handle" their spouse? Is there a better word for what must happen in a successful marriage?

On the Republican side, they need to decide if they are going to be Republicans or the Party of Trump. The decision might help decide both 2022 and 2024.

I'm sure you saw what happened with Bernie. In truth, the Democrats are closer to the center than the left in many other countries. The Republicans in our country have really tipped the scales though. I don't know if there are many other groups in the first world that far right now. You could picture republicans as a cruise ship on the ocean. Below the surface is extremism and fascism. Now you can envision a tubby Trump kraken grabbing the ship and trying to pull it under. Next you can envision some Republicans fighting with the tentacles very timidly while others are cheersing glasses of sparkling wine with them.

Agreed about Bernie, but I also saw Beto last year screaming about confiscation and he wasn't alone in that idea. All major Democrats favor gun banning. While that may be very European, it's not very American.

When I picture the Republican party these days I see the Titanic with a Republican captain going down by the bow and screwing everyone who wasn't in a First Class cabin. To paraphrase the late, great President Ronald Reagan, I didn't leave the Republican Party. The Republican Party left me. The current Republican Party bears a near zero resemblance to the GOP in the 1970s. They've evolved into the hideous beast still publicly sucking Trump's cock ten days after the election won by Biden.
