My hope is that when I shuffle off, the place is better for my kids and g-kids. In that I do have hope as the younger generations are more tolerant, less consumed with Jeebus and fanaticism, and far less likely to vote for the typical authoritarian bullshit that (R)s so dearly love.

That is a natural human hope most of us share. Why not everyone does is a mystery. Why not everyone agrees on how best to get there is a natural human trait.

As we've discussed before, I think this current generation could be the 21st Century's "Greatest Generation". The makings are the same.

Regardless, as historical lines prove, your kids and grandkids have a much greater chance of happiness than their parents and grandparents.
All the data proves it. :)

I dunno about that last. Graduating from university with the equivalent of a decent down payment on a mortgage or a decent vehicle is a lot different than when our generation got out of school. OTOH three of my five kids (oldest is 45) own their own homes, have good lifestyles with a lot of material goodies I couldn't dream of owning when I was their age.

Is three out of five progress or not? Remember when the infant mortality rate was over 25% in the 1930s? It's natural to desire the best for your loved ones, but George Santayana's words continue to ring true. Remember the past. Know the history.

Remember how it was in the past before condemning the present.

Should we continue to do better? Of course! Just keep the perspective. :)

Of course. That's why I have consistently supported and voted for candidates who advocated reproductive rights for women, civil rights for all citizens of color, SSM and anti-discrimination laws, blah blah blah... for 50+ years.

They made the deal with the devil, and by all accounts it was well worth it. They got their tax cuts, to the detriment of the nation. The nation's courts are stacked with incompetent conservative judges, and the SC is tainted to their liking for the rest of our lives.

If they pay in the future, it was well worth the price. trump will not loosen his grip on this party. Not unless someone takes him out. Your only hope is that the under educated stop voting immediately, which is highly likely.

trump begged people to vote in '18. He actually stumped for candidates by claiming that people would really be voting for him. They didn't.

If he can keep people coming to the voting booths, your party is going to start to look like the AOC wing of the House.

Biden, like Obama, will certainly try. Also like Obama, he's going to face record obstructionism if Dems don't take both Ga. Senate seats.

I think working class people have learned that trump was nothing but empty promises. I don't believe voters will ever think Republicans are concerned about the working class.

Most voters also realize that the Dems are not the party of the working class either. Biden didn't win because people were inspired to vote for his working class people oriented policies as those do not exist...they voted for him just to get rid of Trump.

Agree. But if they believed that trump was going to increase quality jobs, as he promised, he would have been re elected. I don't know why you make that claim against Biden?
