relative spending for walker recall

We weren't talking about his current campaign. Further, while it's true that Obama had plenty of corporate-favoring donations during 2008, it was the individual donations that put him over the top. Fact.

Yes, Hollywood's moneyed elite definitely prefers Obama to the most boring man in the world. :D

San Francisco is not Hollywood homeboy.

This shouldn't even be a partisan discussion; whether it's corporations or unions, spending on campaigns & in DC in general is completely out of hand.

People don't get it; or they do, and they're just too busy w/ their lives to do anything about it. Our government & most of its politicians are effectively paid for by the highest bidder.

Oh - and for all you "money is speech" people...time to wake up.

^ This.

On this issue I may just be too close minded but I do not see a way that we are going to get money out of politics. It is going to find a way in no matter how many laws we pass.

Free television ads for all candidates, and a limit on how many for each and every one. Equal time. Same for print ads in the newspapers.

That'll do wonders, for starters.

It's a flaw in the system. The people who need to pass the laws are the primary beneficiaries of the huge sums of money.

The founders missed that one.

Ron Paul's a whack job. Only other whack jobs think Ron Paul's 'cool'.

Of course he's a whack job to a status quo supporting Obama supporter. Hey, I'm all for everyone feeling good about themselves. If that makes you feel better then more power to you.

I'm not an Obama supporter. I didn't vote for him in 2008. At this point, he'll get my vote unless a viable third-party contender emerges, emphasis on viable.

its a pretty graph.....but it's a shame it's all a lie....contradictory data has been provided here both from Huffington Post and from the Wisconsin State Journal.......both show equal spending by the left and the right.....what your data ignores is that the left spent most of it's money trying to convince primary voters not to vote for the other Democrats instead of campaigning against Walker......

the problem with that is that incumbents would have a serious advantage, but not bad for starters

First off it's not like my opinion on the issue means anything but I would say I'm not against changes in the situation regarding money in politics. I just have a hard time envisioning what that would be (a realistic workable senario).

lmao...so using the liberal logic in this thread

obama BOUGHT his presidency in 2008 because he raised more money than mccain....by hundreds of millions of dollars

Some of the measures Bijou listed were good. Radical change is needed - money needs to really be removed entirely from politics, imo. Free airtime & set public funding limits are the way to go.

Won't ever happen; we'll see Presidential campaign reach crazy, astronomical heights in our lifetime.

Shut up troll. Your 'don't care about education' trash is the attempted hijacking.

Let's see Mother Jones only tells one side of the spending story? Now why would that be? Why would they want to hide the millions that unions spent while emphasizing the money that Walker received? Because trolls like you eat it up?

Then prove me wrong...read the damned links then make a comment. They tell both sides but you won't read the links...troll LMAO you're a light weight...sorry...but you are.

A common problem on the right...every liberal is a democrat...now they'll start calling you a communist...LMAO

Provide a link then.

Good start...I'd add that all contributions are public knowledge, no dark money,
