Rejecting Campus Illiberalism

And ok, if colleges should be about preventing people from hearing differing ideas and should be echo chambers then so be it, but we sure as hell shouldn't complain about the state of our education system when we support that

My life ain't been pristine dude. I've had many, many opportunities to be in fights where i talked my way out of it or stopped others from fighting. If that makes me a pussy then so be it. Fair enough.

I specifically answered cypress the Ruston whether I accept violence in the public sphere. My answer is no and I gave that example. Again, if I'm a pussy as a result I'll accept it.

Please re-read my words brother .. I never called you a pussy. Avoiding fights is honorable .. but it's not always possible nor preferable. Some fights you can't run away from.

I am attacking and criticizing your words .. not you.

don't forget the pies.... http://www.anncoulter.com/columns/2005-04-13.html

On March 29, liberals' intellectual retort to a speech by William Kristol at Earlham College was to throw a pie. On March 31, liberals enjoyed the hurly-burly of political debate with Pat Buchanan at Western Michigan University by throwing salad dressing. On April 6, liberals engaged David Horowitz on his ideas at Butler University by throwing a pie at him.

Thats not true. Remember those two cornfeds who kicked your ass after the OSU vs USC game? You told me yourself they were the two biggest women you ever got into a fight with.

I told you that story right? Of the girl who thought I called her fat (this was at one of the High St bars post game) and took my 'SC hat, poured my beer into then threw it in the trash?

When she left I took my hat back. I showed her! (LOL)

You were one seriously lucky USC fan that night. Never, ever, ever mess with Ohio corn fed women!!

We did all of those and more, when I was a young Republican, at local town hall meetings.

It's crap regardless of who does it. But we are specifically speaking about college campuses here. As long as a person is not forced to listen to someone speak and as long as the person isn't a killer or something using violence to prevent people from speaking on college campuses in unacceptable.

That's what happened in Middlebury and cal st LA yet here you are celebrating it
I celebrate the right to protest peacefully. You are truly wacko, thinking I celebrate when it turns violent. You have special eyes, they read things that aren't there.

I don't have problems with people protesting ideas. Violence is never acceptable. I have protested speakers, it is my right to protest their ideas. They have a right to speak, but I have a right to object to content of their messages. If my protest is large enough to stop their message, is not that democracy at work?

Right here. Speakers are getting attacked at schools. That's stopping the message because people physically prevent and use violence to speakers from speaking.

I'm 44 years old and never been in a fight. I don't fight and I don't get into screaming matches with people. So no, I don't support anyone who does.

Ben Shipiro graduated from Harvard Law School and was prevented from speaking. Charles Murray has a PhD from M.I.T. and not only wasn't allowed to speak a female professor was physically attacked. Is that acceptable on a college campus? Should I have rioted in '92 when I saw Sista Soulja speak at 'SC after Bill Clinton accused her of hate speech?

Ben Shipiro and Charles Murry are racist POS who doesn't need to speak to any sane Americans.

If college students don't want to hear their brand of hate on their campus, I'm all for it.

Why do you want to force hate speech on American college students?

No one was forced to go see them speak.

Where does it say I support violent protests? It's those special eyes!

So threatening them, physically stopping them from speaking, physically turning off equipment so they can't speak is all ok?

That didn't happen.

Besides, I never hear you defend protestors who are being shot at with tear gas, sprayed with water hose, attached by dogs, beat with batons and arrested for their right to protest.

No one fucking word from you.

Even mentioning Milo was your first mistake.

Assuming that college campuses should be free of the nation's politics was your second mistake. College students aren't children.

Irrespective of your pristine life, free from conflict .. that isn't how the world works. Americans have a long history of protests and standing up for their beliefs .. often in the face of a violent right-wing. SEE: Kent State, Jackson State

College students on campus are no different brother .. in fact, it's often where dissent and action form.

Violence doesn't happen in a bubble. Most often it's a reaction to violence.

Singling out 'liberalism' was a huge mistake .. especially coming from a conservative such as yourself.

This didn't happen to Ben Shapiro at Cal State LA or the professor who was attacked at Middlebury?
