Rejecting Campus Illiberalism

Ben Shapiro graduated from Harvard Law. Charles Murray has a PhD from M.I.T. and both were attacked. Are those not sufficient academic credentials?

No one wants to hear their racist, hateful BS.

They can preach to their own.

First off you're not addressing the topic. And since you are changing the topic come to California which has total control by the Democrats and see the amount of poverty here and the economic inequality we have.

Dude.... really?

YOU support those who created economic inequality.

What would you say the purpose of Universities are and what should students expect when they go to one? Should they expect to be challenged intellectually or are Universities just an extension on national politics and students as pawns in a partisan battle?

I do not think Milo the pedophile provides intellectual challenges nor scholarly opinion, do you?

I do not think William Buckley, George Will, or Bill Kristol - aka, conservatives who actually present some semblance of scholarly opinion - would be met with the resentment and anger that Milo the Pedophile was, do you?

Now, do you think civility applies across the public commons?> Or are you trying to limit this conversation only to contexts that make liberals look supposedly "bad" (assuming that protesting Milo the pedophile is actually a "bad" thing, which is not an assumption I would make... but you evidently do?)

I'm 44 years old and never been in a fight. I don't fight and I don't get into screaming matches with people. So no, I don't support anyone who does.

Ben Shipiro graduated from Harvard Law School and was prevented from speaking. Charles Murray has a PhD from M.I.T. and not only wasn't allowed to speak a female professor was physically attacked. Is that acceptable on a college campus? Should I have rioted in '92 when I saw Sista Soulja speak at 'SC after Bill Clinton accused her of hate speech?

How is this anything but anti intellectual to forcefully take away the ability for those who so choose to hear someone speak?

Did you even read my comments? It's not ok anywhere. Your assault on academia is disingenuous on several counts. The examples you site don't represent all of academia and your cherry picking events that reinforce your own bias.

It's become a reoccurring theme.

Thats not true. Remember those two cornfeds who kicked your ass after the OSU vs USC game? You told me yourself they were the two biggest women you ever got into a fight with.

One of my best friends is a Harvard Law grad. He got perfect on his LSAT. I always give him shit for going there and doing nothing better in life than hanging out with a loser like me. LOL.
I conned a Harvard Law School graduate out of $20 once. I bet him I could drink two pints of beer before he could drink two shots. He agreed but I told him there was two rules. That we couldn't physically touch each other or the others glass. I then asked if I could drink my first pint before he started drinking his shots. He said ok so I chugged my first pint Then inverted my glass and placed it over one of his shots.

Wait, are you seriously asking me if punching someone without cause is an okay thing to do?

But if you are so dead set against violence, I wonder if you have ever started a thread about lefties being assaulted by fan boys of the Orange Clown?

I spent over 8 years in universities, not including my part time teaching gigs, and at those schools I never, ever recall a single example of conservatives being punched out because they loved the Iraq War, loved torturing prisoners, or loved kicking poor people off Medicaid. Not one single incident. Its just not something that happens with enough frequency to register on my radar. I am not sure if you realize this wacky dude, but Fox News and the greater wingnutsophere are playing you. Playing you by having you accept their phony premise of white, conservative male victimhood.

p.s., Wacky dude, I am not going to stop you from believing in the horrifying problem of white conservative male victimhood at the hand of communistic-ish higher education. You are welcome to hang on to it. Carry on!

Right now, I am turning my attention of Ken Burn's "The Roosevelts" on Netflix.

I think you, I, and everyone else agrees that we are eternally grateful to FDR for saving us from the Great Republican Depression - in much the same way President Obama saved us from the Great Republican Recession!

And to tell you the truth, Teddy Roosevelt was the best Republican President of the last century. On a sidebar, I just learned about TR's adventures in the Amazon jungle, gripping stuff, Chief! I highly recommend!

it certainly was. Good damned thing his son had an engineering background. TR was damned lucky to have survived that adventure. I've been watching that PBS on Netflix too. I agree, TR was the best Republican president of the 20th century followed by Ike. No one else comes close.

'Differing opinions' suggests that the opinion offered has a modicum of value. What does Milo bring to the table? Drinking gasoline is a different approach to testing the effects of poison on the body. Probably better just to read about it.
Who the fuck are you to judge? Which part of freedom of speech do you not understand?
