That sounds expensive. People can put forth a little effort.

Automatically register people to vote when the renew driver's liscences, renew motor vehicle registration, etc.
If you are going to require IDs, make it easy and fair. Don't fucking play games about which IDs are acceptable.

That is by design. How do you think the smaller population states were convinced to ratify the Constitution? I'll give you a hint. Each state gets the same number of Senators, but the number of Representatives in the House is proportional to population. That way the big states have more influence, but they can't simply roll over the smaller states. It was a brilliant solution.

How stupid. When I had to get mine, the hospital i had been born at had been sold and that one merged. The records were on paper and it took me a lot of trouble to get one. It cost money and I had to go to a couple offices. Of course that is lot harder for a poor person , an old person or one that does not drive. It is also a problem in many rural ares where the DMV offices are scarce and have very limited hours. Some older people were not even born in hospitals.

What about people who live in cities that were flooded by hurricanes or rivers. Often their records are gone and you have to remake them somehow. Even the cost of an ID is tough for some poor people.

The plan is to allow "the right " people to vote and stop the others. Fact is, you have no argument.
 
Voter impersonation fraud is very rare. So is finding registered voters who could not vote because they lacked a voter ID.
