Attorney General Brad Schimel suggests Donald Trump won Wisconsin because of the state's voter ID law

Yeah, so? What's wrong with honest elections?

"How many of your listeners really honestly are sure that Senator (Ron) Johnson was going to win re-election or President Trump was going to win Wisconsin if we didn’t have voter ID to keep Wisconsin’s elections clean and honest and have integrity?"

Republicans are using every undemocratic means at their disposal to subvert Democracy.

They actually do not have a leg to stand on to lecture Vladimir Putin or Saudi Arabia about respect for democratic institutions and the will of the people. I can actually understand why the Kremlin tells our government to fuck off when we try to lecture them about respect for clean, fair, and democratic elections.

Judge James Peterson found Wisconsin's voting laws discriminated against minorities and labeled the voter ID law "a cure worse than the disease" that tried to address "mostly phantom voter fraud." His ruling forced the state to make changes to the system it uses to issue IDs to those who have the most difficulty obtaining them, such as people who don't have birth certificates or Social Security numbers.

Courts and experts have found voter impersonation fraud is exceptionally rare.
Trump won Wisconsin by more than 22,000 votes and Johnson won by more than 99,000 votes. Schimel did not say in his radio interview if he believed that many people would have fraudulently voted without the voter ID law, if he thought more Democratic voters would have turned up if the voter ID requirement were not in place or if he meant something else.

Don't be silly. Voter ID laws keep elections honest. No amount of leftist loonery will ever change that.

every study done says there is no need for these laws

there is only ONE reason the rethuglicans insist they are in place

because if Americans are allowed to vote rethuglicans lose elections

Everybody knows voter ID laws are intended to make voting more of a hassle, and disproportionately drive down voter participation in disadvantaged communities and among young people, aka voters not likely to vote GOP. The fact that no one ever complains about absentee voters and mail in voters not having to show ID when they mail their ballots also belies the claim that this is simply about integrity and fairness.

You want to know how you can get Democrats to support voter IDs?

Make voting easier, hassle free, and more universal.

Make election day a national holiday so people do not have to juggle their schedule or choose between work and voting.
Making early voting more widely available.
Make more polling places available in every precinct. There should never be lines around the block.
Automatically register people to vote when the renew driver's liscences, renew motor vehicle registration, etc.
If you are going to require IDs, make it easy and fair. Don't fucking play games about which IDs are acceptable.
Get rid of the archaic and undemocratic electoral college and make the people's votes actually represent the people's will. Rural states already have vastly disproportionate representation in the US Senate.

dont different IDs have different requirements? If your going to allow an ID your neighbor can give you then it defeats the point of voter ID.

The only way someone could "find" that voter ID laws "discriminate against minorities" is by making it up. In fact, alleging this is racist in and of itself.
"duh, black people r 2 stoopid to git eye dee, hurr durr".
