Quit eating meat!

Have any of you even seen an animal being killed before you eyes?

I have,I've witnessed a kosher killing of a deer once, the most horrid thing i ever saw

would any of you like to see an animal getting butchered?

I've witnessed both a standard killing and a kosher one, not particularly bother by either. Before you accuse me of being heartless and hating animals, know this, I love cows. Sounds silly, but I do. My wife and I are planning a move and my one demand is that we have space for some cows. Not to eat, but just because I want cows.

I respect your views, really I do, but don't try to force me to change mine. Live stock has been raised for centuries for the purpose of feeding people, that's not likely to change anytime soon. Keep eating your veggies, more meat for the rest of us.

"30 Days" had a great show last week, where a hunter from NC moved to LA for 30 days & lived with members of PETA.

It was pretty cool; at the end, he said he wasn't going to give up hunting or eating meat, but he was converted into a big believer in animal rights. To him, that didn't necessarily mean not killing animals for food, but just treating them humanely & without cruelty on the way.

It's always good to buy local, unless Perdue is your local farm.

That shows how cowardly people are, They can't face doing certain horrible things themselves, but they enjoy the benefits without a pang of conscience.

that hunter from NC can burn in hell for all i care

you can't be a vegitiran in principle but not in practice

The livestock industry needs a little closer management both for the benefit of those who consume them, and for the benefit of treating animals more humanely while raising them for food. We eat mostly (by far) wild meat: venison (white tail is the best) elk, pheasant, grouse, etc. The beef, pork and chicken we indulge in are raised locally and are all free range. That leaves the only large-production meat we eat is when we go to a restaurant.

I have no problem at all butchering my own meat. In fact, I vastly prefer doing it myself. That way I get the cuts I want in the manner I want them. I tend to bone everything, then boil the bones and scraps with vegetables, rice and oat meal to feed the dogs.

I firmly believe hunters need to practice as much as possible. Better marksman ship makes for cleaner, more humane kills. Unfortunately the anti-gun crowd wants to make it very expensive to practice. (One of their back-door ways of infringing on gun owner's rights.)

Don't eat meat. It's disgusting and you shouldn't eat it.Think about how the animals feel?Knowing their being farmed just to be killed and consumed by humans.Have you seen how animals are butchered and treated. It's disgusting.

Cut all meat from your diet.

Eat only eggs, dairy, and vegetables and fruits and grains.

Eggs are fine because at least we know the hen survived.

You are either a moron, or a troll. I haven't decided yet.

BTW, are you aware of the conditions laying hens are subject to? We're talking a 1-cubic foot (tops) area where they are locked 24/7!

would any of you like to see an animal getting butchered?

Why? Do you have pictures or something? No thanks...I already subscribe to the AGB (Animals Getting Butchered) network on cable.

While I think chickens are among the stupidest animals on the planet, they are not treated very well. The chicken in the top cage is better off. The rest get chicken shit raining down on them.

And the feed is full of steroids and antibiotics.

Exchange the word "chickens" for "humans" and that's a pretty good summing up of society.

Yes, I have seen animal butchered. Not a kosher butchering though. I have killed quite a few deer, and field dressed them. I gave up butchering them, too much hassle. I take the carcass to a processor.

I've also seen livestock butchered. None were in pain. They were killed quickly and humanely. However, these were on small farms not big industrial processing farms.

Most hunters have a great deal of respect for the animals they hunt. All of them do their best to make a quick kill. I go to a good deal of trouble to make a quick, humane kill. I will pass on a shot I am not sure of.

Hunting is murder, like slaughter. NO NEED to kill our fellow cratures

If you want to try and create some sort of Eden-like setting, by all means give it a shot.

But there are plenty of good reasons for hunting. First of all, I use the meat to feed my family.

But even more important is that I, and my fellow hunters, are basically the only predator that is left. Without hunting the animals would overpopulate and destroy the habitat needed for themselves and many, many other animals.

We also hunt many non-native species that are destroying not only other animals species, but entire habitats - plant and animal alike.

Not true, Natures balance is perfect.

Red meat is a killer. Your poisoning your own family with the bodies of murdered animals, your fellow inhabitants of Planet Earth.

They have as much right to live as you

Ok, so to make you feel all warm & fuzzy, we should let the deer & wild hogs overpopulate? We should let them defoliate the landscape and then die a slow lingering death? And what about all the other animals that would die because of the defoliation?

Yes, nature's balance is better. But, unfortunately, nature's balance does not include removing all the large predators or introducing a rapid breeding new species into the niche.

Who are you to say whats overpopulation? Let Nature decide

What? Nature would decide by letting them starves by the millions.

Plus, the feral hogs we have are not native. Nature would not have transported mating pairs and released them. But we did. Now we have a growing population of hogs with no natural predators and a strong breeding pattern. Not only do they consume large amounts of food, their rooting instinct means they destroy a lot of habitat in addition to what they eat.

And the corrections made by nature take centuries at the very least.

Besides, in addition to population controls, hunters fund most of the conservation efforts with the fees and special taxes they pay.
