Putin to Trump: "Pull your troops out of Syria NOW, or else I'll spill the beans."

yes. or if "ISIS rebounds"

we have 5000 in Iraq if needed and we can always go back in -this BS of "what ifs" is mission creep

That, and sadly, I don’t just trust a lot of these people. Here’s Mattis from last September:

“Right now our troops inside Syria are there for one purpose, and that’s under the U.N. authorization about defeating ISIS,” Mattis said. “Our troops are there for that one purpose.”

___________

Of all the principle actors in this play—Trump is the only one who can keep his story straight. If we are there to defeat ISIS—mission accomplished. But since that argument no longer carries weight, the goal post shifts to ‘protecting the Kurds’. Even though Mattis is on record saying we are in Syria *for that one purpose*, which in September, ONLY had to do with ISIS.

Color me suspicious, but I think the ultimate ‘purpose’ is to hang around in Syria till they can topple Assad.

And oh, gee, I wonder how that will turn out.

I agree. We Don't need troops in Syria. But it's not about that. It's about Trump making this major decision without consulting his generals. Doesn't that concern you?

Fake Newsers purposely not getting simple facts right concerns me.

Assuming Trump didn’t talk to Mattis or Bolton before making the decision to withdraw forces—I’m pretty sure he knew what they were going to say. Both of them are legitimate hawks—especially, Bolton. I’m still surprised Trump picked either one of them. I assume it was because Trump wants to keep from surrounding himself with yes-men.

I can’t imagine either of them saying ‘yeah, ok let’s pull out or Syria’. I have a hard time conceiving of ANY circumstance under which Bolton or Mattis would check-off on it.

In either event, Trump made the right decision and his authority to make it is unassailable.

Don't you ever get tired of sucking Trump's dick?

I guess not.

Trump is impulsive and amoral.. Tweeting and trashing people right and left, but he sure is mute on Putin.

Trump would not meet with Putin at the g-20..but he still wants to have the best relation possible -which is all but impossible with Congressional sanctions.
Still there is no reason to go after him further -especially for the Kerch Strait incident where Ukraine is clearly violating notification procedures.

Poroshenko would LOVE to have NATO there, and Britain sent one ship -but that would be the worse thing we could do.

The PNAC agenda is from 1994.

It was concocted after the fall of the Soviet Union and there's an abundance of evidence that it was also concocted 'because' of the opportunity for the US to expand it's aggression when there was no longer any superpower to stand in the way.

Are you not aware of the Soviet sphere of influence in the ME and elsewhere in the world that the US has always tried to eliminate?

There was a window of opportunity for the US to complete it's PNAC agenda when the Soviet Union fell. Now Russia is back and China with them, and the window has been slammed shut!

The US is not going to risk nuclear war by going too far with it's plans for world wide aggression.

Thank Dog for M.A.D.

Proving once and for all that it was always the US that was the threat to world peace. The Russians never were coming!
NATO expansion was a grave error and a continuing threat to peace.
China and Russia are now strategic integrated military partners - but the west will not look at their roles in forcing that partnership.
They did the same thing in Libya ( nowhere near as important -but the same thing)

US-led anti-ISIS coalition announces Syria strikes after Trump orders withdrawal

The U.S.-led military coalition fighting the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) announced...

The U.S.-led military coalition fighting the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) announced Tuesday airstrikes and coordinated attacks against the terrorist group’s strongholds in Syria, days after President Trump ordered the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the country.

The attacks were carried out last week, from Dec. 16 to 22, in the Middle Euphrates River Valley, according to the news release from Operation Inherent Resolve.

The coordinated attacks destroyed ISIS logistics facilities and staging areas, which “severely degraded” the group and “removed several hundred” of its fighters from the battlefield, the release said.

The airstrikes also targeted several ISIS financial centers and capabilities in Susah and As Shafah, which the release described as dealing a “significant blow” to the terrorist group’s ability to finance its activities.

“ISIS presents a very real threat to the long-term stability in this region and our mission remains the same, the enduring defeat of ISIS,” the coalition’s deputy commander, U.K. Maj. Gen. Christopher Ghika, said in the release.

The released added that “coalition partner forces continue to advance through the last remaining stronghold ISIS has in the region.”

On Wednesday, Trump announced that he was ordering the withdrawal of the 2,000 U.S. troops fighting ISIS in Syria.

In announcing the withdrawal, Trump first declared victory over the group. He has since said others, including Turkey, Russia, Iran and Syria, can deal with the remaining ISIS fighters in Syria.

Trump’s decision to withdraw sparked the resignations of Defense Secretary James Mattis and special envoy to the anti-ISIS coalition, Brett McGurk.

It was concocted in Israel for Bibi in 1994.

With so many dumb moves to our credit we were always pushing the Arabs into the arms of the Soviets.

there you go then.. we aren't all that needed.
we were mostly a communications hub/coordination for the coalition.

Like I've said "there is always a reason to stay"..and that's how we usually do things -but our base is really untenable - only there because of our partners.

Best to get out when we can. If not we wind up with mission creep.
ISIS is all but gone as a state, and we are not going to stay in Syria just for a counter-terrorism strategy

Don't get cocky and try to tell me something I already know. Everything concocted for the Zionist apartheid state is perfectly consistent with US colonial style expansion and world domination.

Sometimes true but nonetheless irrelevant. You were looking for something to say to show me you're sort of smart. Pull in your horns a bit and show you have good intentions and I might be able to use you.

(if there is anybody on this entire forum who could be useful?)

The Project for the New American Century (PNAC) was a neoconservative think tank based in Washington, D.C. that focused on United States foreign policy. It was established as a non-profit educational organization in 1997, and founded by William Kristol and Robert Kagan.
