Putin to Trump: "Pull your troops out of Syria NOW, or else I'll spill the beans."

anatta: "here is a strategic exercise for you: what is the fallacy in this?"
Jack: Turkey, a supposed NATO ally, is a false ally.

When the US invaded Iraq (and I don't want to debate the wisdom of that) the US was to have a 'Northern Invasion Route' through Turkey. At the last minute, Turkey (our supposed NATO ally) prevented the US from doing that.

Now, the SDF is eliminating ISIS east of the Euphrates, and deserves our continued support. Turkey isn't doing anything against ISIS, the Main Threat to the US.

from link: "But the loss of the US presence has renewed worries that Turkey, which regards the SDF's main component the People's Protection Units (YPG) as an extension of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), may now be preparing to launch an operation to drive the group out of the city of Manbij or further."
Jack: See the Problem? Turkey is gearing up to massacre the SDF (allies of the US), the group that has eliminated ISIS from east of the Euphrates. Why do we want to let Turkey kill out allies (the SDF) that have killed our enemies (ISIS)?

Did you think Bush handing over Iraq to Iran was a brilliant Military victory? Do you think Trump handing over the rest of Syria (Rojava) to the Russian/Iranian/Assad Alliance would be another brilliant Military victory?

In Gulf War 1 Turkey was overrun with refugees... Bill Clinton promised compensation after the fact, but forgot about it.. Turkey was over run with refugees again when Dubya invaded Iraq.

NOW, Turkey is home to 2 million Syrian refugees.

Just for 'guno', the Jew-centric, non-Jew.

"The Syrian Kurds: Israel's forgotten ally"

"Iran is now closer than ever to securing a land corridor that will connect it to the Mediterranean through Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon. This corridor will expand its sphere of influence from the Strait of Hormuz in the east to the Mediterranean in the west, and will ensure that Israel is surrounded by land and sea.

Israel would do well to eye Rojava with interest, and not only to confront Iran’s penetration. Rojava and Iraqi Kurdistan are the only entities in the Middle East, apart from Israel, that enjoy open, secular, and liberal rule granting considerable rights to the opposition, women, and minorities. This is particularly notable in a region where radical and totalitarian ideologies prevail."

gobble some more pork jack

I thought mentioning 'Israel' would give you a better insight on why the US should support the Northern Federation and stay until there is a negotiated Agreement to an autonomous region of Rojava with the Syrian Government of Assad (along with Russia and Iran as Signatories).

you think he didn't talk to Mattis. or the NSC? the bullshit CNN press twists a disagreement into "he didn't talk"

Trump campaigned on getting in and out of Syria.
I keep hearing reasons like "checking Iran" when Iran is already all over Syria.. screw the neocon/neolibs

Even if he DID talk to Mattis, he surely didn't heed his advice.

Go ahead and continue to suck Trump's dick and make excuses for all his faults and fuck-ups like all the other Trump sycophants.
You know what they say: It takes a fucking moron to vote for a fucking moron.

agree you've identified all the areas of Turkish concern ( and then some -good job)

How can we pressure Turkey to not kill Kurds? I don't see how we can -if so us being in Syria doesn't fulfill that goal. Meaning us staying there is the only way to keep Turkey from going on a border crossing.

Should we stay in Syria to check Turkey's move, even with the benefit of keeping ISIS from"reforming"
For how long?
Are you willing to make it a permanent presence? *because that's what happens more often then not*

Russians are in control of Syria with their partners. It's not ours to "hand over"

There was a window of opportunity for the US to complete it's PNAC agenda when the Soviet Union fell. Now Russia is back and China with them, and the window has been slammed shut!

The US is not going to risk nuclear war by going too far with it's plans for world wide aggression.

Thank Dog for M.A.D.

Proving once and for all that it was always the US that was the threat to world peace. Thr Russians never were coming!

Trump doesn't talk "to" anyone. He just talks "at" them. Talking "to" someone might require him to listen to them.

Purest delusion. Putin has plans for Russian territorial expansion. Look up how that sort of thing brought on WWII.

The last sentence gives the lie to the latest Russian nonsense.

It boils down to a simple question: are we willing to keep a permanent presence in Syria just to protect the Kurds?

‘Bomb’ and/or ‘take the oil’ from ISIS

A twist on his decade-old idea to seize Middle Eastern oil as repayment, Trump repeatedly makes this promise on the campaign trail, arguing it’ll cut off funding to ISIS.

The United States has already been bombing oil assets under ISIS control for quite some time, though.

"It’s like saying there won’t be a meteor strike in 1812," said Anthony Cordesman, a national security analyst at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

As for how he would "take the oil," Trump told the Washington Post’s editorial board in March he would "circle" and "defend those areas" with ground troops, but wouldn’t commit to a number.

To keep this promise, Trump would have to invade Syria and convince the Assad regime to give up their claims on oil and gas in the country, according to Matthew Reed, vice president of Foreign Reports, a consultant firm specializing in Middle East oil politics

"If Trump wants to take oil from ISIS, he needs an invasion plan and an occupation plan covering years, plus a reconstruction plan worth billions of American dollars," Reed said.

Given that the United States and its allies have been systematically taking territory from ISIS without resorting to a full-scale invasion, Cordesman called the promise "purposeless" and "imbecilic."

yes. or if "ISIS rebounds"

we have 5000 in Iraq if needed and we can always go back in -this BS of "what ifs" is mission creep

The PNAC agenda is from 1994.
