Putin Becoming Russia's New Stalin

Sounds like Hitler:

" “I am convinced that such a natural and necessary self-purification of society will only strengthen our country, our solidarity, cohesion and readiness to respond to any challenges.”"

There are actually good people who simply disagree with him, right?

This is the way of the LEFT wing Socialists and Communists. Always has been.

When your opponents are "gnats" and "Nazis" it can be a good thing to bomb their apartment buildings, movie theaters and hospitals.

I do not think it is a good analogy

Putin is the head of a quasi-theocractic regime where church and state are bonded in an unholy alliance of reactionary white Christian nationalism and imperialism.

Stalin was an atheist who famously destroyed ancient churches and murdered priests and bishops.

The model for Putin, in my opinion, are the autocratic reactionary tsars of the 19th century, aka Alexander III or Nicholas I.

Good point

Like some we know in the US

he wants to go BACKWARDS into a past that they imagined was perfect

A past that never existed

A past that doesn’t match the reality that truely was

Stalin would have never allowed powerful oligarchs to accumulate vast fortunes of wealth and empires of capital, because he would have seen it as a threat to himself and his totalitarian grip on the Communist state.

Putin's criminal oligarchy is unique in a sense, but the better analogy is with the rightwing autocratic tsars of the 19th century. Alexander III is the model of an autocratic, imperial police state regime.

It's in the nature of an "emperor" to be an autocrat. Putin is unlikely to be remembered, as Alexander III is, for being a "peacemaker". As for the analogy, Putin created it himself by adopting "gnats" to describe his perceived
adversaries, the very word Stalin used.

The dehumanization of the opposition is reminiscent of Hitler, Mussolini and Trump.

Fascinating. We all see a RW "president" using the same actions and rhetoric as other RW despots through history have used -- but he's a "leftwinger."

Go back to your rock and pull it over your head. The adults are trying to have a conversation here.

Hello Cypress,

The dehumanization of the opposition is reminiscent of Hitler, Mussolini and Trump.

And Hillary KKKlinton when she called half the country deplorable.

BTW,....Odd that I never heard anything about Trump having millions of people lined up against the wall and eradicated like the others have, the left wing socialists and Communists. Never heard of him launching huge large scale invasions of whole continents either. Hmmm...maybe I was asleep I guess,...OR it could be that you are just another in a long line of biased political hacks. Yup,... pretty sure thats it. ;)

The Nazi Swastika bends to the right to indicate that is a right wing symbol. Zelenskyy is Jewish, so it would be bizarre to call him a Nazi. The Nazis outlawed all socialists, and exterminated communists. I could go on and on... Stone's defense of fascism is just nonsense.

and Stalin was just as stupid as Putin

soon after Hitler invaded Stalin sent literally millions of farmers and peasants into the Nazi meat grinder....just sent them in with no battle plans or officers worth a shit

Putin's doing the same thing only 'better' this time...sent them in thinking there would be NO resistance to his Soviet aggression, armed them with inferior equipment leaving with only one option - murder as many civilians as possible. coward

and Stalin had the US army and General George Patton fighting on the same side (reluctantly), only reason Russians aren't speaking German today

Yes. And every other despot throughout history. You don't want your citizens and soldiers to see "the enemy" as human. Therefore they must be dehumanized by calling them animal names. In our own country we had leaders calling the indigenous people and the slaves "animals." You still hear that rhetoric today by some when talking about illegal immigrants. #TRE45ON himself did it. And then doubled down on it.

Trump says 'animals' comment refers to criminals, Mexico protests

"Trump made the remarks on Wednesday during a meeting with California municipal leaders who support his goal of making the U.S. border impervious to illegal immigration.

“We have people coming into the country, or trying to come in, and we’re stopping a lot of them, but we’re taking people out of the country. You wouldn’t believe how bad these people are. These aren’t people. These are animals,” Trump said."

And Hillary KKKlinton when she called half the country deplorable.

Are you claiming that only hard core trump supporters are American? It certainly sounds like you are. Clinton made clear that half of hard core trump supporters are deplorable, but hard core trump supporters only make up 20% of America. That would mean she is saying that 10% of America is deplorable.

Whereas you have made clear you believe the majority of America is deplorable.

It would be horrible to have your military attack peaceful productive citizens of a functional society. You have to call them names if you're an oligarch autocrat with ambitions of grandiose empire.
