We don't see any officers on the landing because the SWAT officers are coming up the stairs and the 3 officers that had been guarding the door are heading down the stairs. Yet somehow ExpressLane thinks they are in the line of fire. I guess when I was a pre-teen and trained by the local NRA chapter in gun safety and warned to make sure there was nothing beyond my target, the NRA was wrong. The should have told me that I needed to do a full 180 degree arc, up, down and both sides, since bullets don't travel in straight lines in the Trumper reality.
