Hmmm....what's the biggest difference between those you reference, and Iraq? Are we 'occupying' Germany and South Korea because we still have bases there?

No."Are we 'occupying' Germany and South Korea because we still have bases there?" #140
We bombed S.Korea? We bombed Germany into the stone age?
We bombed S.Korea?
We negotiated to leave, they didn't want us there. No but I don't get your point. It's a longstanding US tradition to leave behind troops and air bases after victory.
Why should Iraq be the exception?
Why must the U.S. tax payer bear this burden?"... today there are over 320,000 [U.S.] Army troops alone, deployed in 120 countries overseas. That's more than 60% of the entire [U.S.] Army." NBC-TV Nightly News March 9, '04.
No.
We still have bases there because we're occupying them.
We negotiated to leave, they didn't want us there.
Very good. We're making slow but steady progress.Actually, an occupying force subverts governing authority. Germany and etc, all have their own governments---.
You wouldn't. If you don't mind me putting it in my local vernacular, the VP debates ain't worth teets on a boar hog.I admittedly didn't know there was a debate last night until I saw so many channels with the debate listed. I turned it on at one point and the first thing I heard was Tim Kaine say that Hillary Clinton will be the "you're hired" candidate and not the "you're fired" candidate, and so from that one moment it was clear that that's all the debate would probably be and so I changed the channel. That's all I saw of the debate. I don't think my mind would have been changed regardless though if I would have watched it all.
you wouldn't say that if it was a sheep......You wouldn't. If you don't mind me putting it in my local vernacular, the VP debates ain't worth teets on a boar hog.

I don't care what side you're on.

Are you purposely ignoring the fact that Iraq didn't want us there, and refused to meet our demands? Why should we occupy Iraq, just because some idiot invaded, leaving the entire region in disarray forever?
Are you suggesting that we have to occupy in perpetuity just to keep the never ending supply of invaders out?
Because that's not a viable plan, and should have been considered before 'Shock And Awe'.
To seek the general in the specifics? Why do you say that?
