Pence won on style.

Surprised that Kaine interrupted so much. He seemed hopped up on caffeine.

Thought it was weird that Pence denied all of the things that everyone now knows Trump has said - but he definitely won. I'm sure a lot of conservatives wish he was at the top of the ticket.
I'm not sure why Kaine missed the opportunity to hammer Pence on the horrid bills he's signed into law. Trump is no doubt seething because Pence was out there building a foundation for his own 2020 run.

Agree. Even though Pence remained cool, the issues that Kaine raised will be at the top of the news cycles once the Monday morning quarterbacking is done. Pence's lies are already being debunked.

Pence debunked the supposed love affair between Trump and Putin with this gem:

MODERATOR: Trump has said: "Putin has no respect for Hillary Clinton and no respect for Obama." Why do you think he will respect a Trump-Pence administration? Why the you think he will respect a trump-pence administration?

MIKE PENCE: Strength. Plain and simple... Donald Trump is a strong leader... We are going to rebuild our military. This whole Putin thing, look, America is stronger than Russia. Our economy is 16 times larger than the Russian economy. Our political system is superior to the crony corrupt capitalis system in Russia it every way.

When Donald Trump and I observed, as I said, in Syria and Iran and Ukraine that the small and bullying leader of Russia has been stronger on the world stage than this administration, that is stating painful facts. That is not an endorsement of Putin. That is an indictment of the weak and feckless leadership of President Obama and Hillary Clinton.

lol I love it how when pence "wins" the liberals still spin it as a trump loss. So if pence did bad, it would have been bad for trump. But if pence does good, that's also bad for trump. I saw commentators saying pence doing good makes trump look bad, or that pence should have defended trump on x y z so that actually hurts trump. You seriously can't win no matter what with these people.
You can't win with Trump. Good that you finally accept that he's out of control.

I heard it quoted tonight that polls showed over 40% of people polled couldn't name one of the two VP candidates. If that's the case can't imagine tonight moved the needle much
What's really funny, is that even today, everyone who wants to reference Pence first says Kaine. Last night too. "Kaine clearly won tonight....I mean Pence"

Oh give me a break, that's ridiculous, he lied, he didn't defend his candidate and he said, "not that Mexican thing.
Trump is pissed at him. The guy is a total loser. Tim Kaine won by getting him to denounce Trump by not defending him!
If Kaine had just waited his turn, he would have run away with the debate. Truth be told, Pence had quite a few Kaine moments himself w/respect to interrupting.

You guys are so wrong, Latinos are hopping mad! Kaine achieved his goal, making it difficult for Pence to defend Trump and pissing off Latinos #ThatMexicanThing. I don't see how someone wins by lying
They win the moment, but not the next few days of reviewing the facts.

Trump moved the needle with the tiresome peripheral issues and his ridiculous 3am Tweeting more than the debate did.

Take away that, and Hillary got a mini-bounce from the debate. So it was actually a good call.
Ummm....that's like saying 'take away the debate, and Trump wins the debate'

Trump was baited...by design....at the debate. You don't get to 'take away that'. Trump is a creature of habit. As such, making him a puppet is easy for Democrats.

Not so easy for his handlers.

The flip side of these soundbites, is that Trump would have started WW3 when Putin went into Crimea. Easy to denounce foreign policies that require absolutely no shots fired, when you're trying to create a scenario that appears to demand military action.

Just watched Pence choke on the question about Trump's desire to give nukes to Japan/S. Korea/Saudi Arabia. Some may be gloating today, but the week will end up being very good for Clinton.

I gave the VP debate all the attention it deserved. I didn't watch it and it won't affect the outcome of the election.
I was out, and got home long after it was over. I watched the pundits call it for Pence, and then started watching the re broadcast. I think the hysteria over Kaine was overstated. Pence was able to remain calm while choking over the myriad problems his candidate has.

Think about that: if Hillary couldn't bait Trump she would be down in the polls. She was trying to find the bottom before the debate.

Which means she sucks on the issues. Hillary's best strategy for getting to the WH isn't talking about her vision or how great things are after 8 years of her and Obama---it's getting Trump to do stupid shit.

- excellent -
Please quote 3 examples.
Thanks.
Without Googling....his claim about the Clinton foundation only using 10% of their money for charity was a whopper.

'We are less safe today than we were 8 years ago.' That's nonsense.

His claims about a failed economy fly in the face of record Dow numbers. Now, we can argue the merits of using Wall St figures as a fair representation of the real economy, just as we can argue 'real' unemployment figures. But those are the factors that have historically been used to measure the economy.
His claim about tax cuts increasing revenue have long since been debunked. It doesn't matter how many times that lie gets repeated.

I haven't even seen the entire debate yet. From what I saw, he lied every time he opened his mouth.

I admittedly didn't know there was a debate last night until I saw so many channels with the debate listed. I turned it on at one point and the first thing I heard was Tim Kaine say that Hillary Clinton will be the "you're hired" candidate and not the "you're fired" candidate, and so from that one moment it was clear that that's all the debate would probably be and so I changed the channel. That's all I saw of the debate. I don't think my mind would have been changed regardless though if I would have watched it all.

Perhaps so...to a point. But you have to admit that this election is more about the dangers of having Trump in the White House, than any promises by either candidate that will never get through Congress.

For those of us who have given up on national politics, it comes down to casual observance of the two candidates. The only issue is Trump's ability to serve as POTUS. He fails miserably.

Highlighting that fact is a big part of the Democratic strategy, as nothing else is necessary.
