Obamacare Lite is out!

Only if it's a free market based medical cost sharing with incentives for preventive visits and everybody pays into it, including those on welfare.
Correct. Obamacare will just continue to implode. No reason to repeal it.
It's probably safer for republicans to not pass Trumpcare.

Not sure if 'not passing' something is an option, politically.

Total repeal would mollify the conservative base; but a mass upheaval of the healthcare system was part of what got us into this mess.

Republicans are doing what democrats should have done initially: namely, take a measured, incremental approach to the problem.

The big problem is Republicans don't know what they want. Different factions of Republicans want different things so there is no consensus. It's doubtful they can pass anything

Yep, ya got Rand Paul and the freedom caucus who only want to repeal, then ya got the other extreme which is our own Lisa Murkowski who wants to keep the Medicaid expansion. Lisa is basically a dim. Not sure why she even calls herself a pub.
If they don't pass anything then the freedom caucus, Rand Paul, et al, eventually get their way - Obamacare implodes, which satisfies me and the republican freedom caucus, and satisfies dims who would rather watch it implode than repeal it.

You are a funny fucker.
Maybe so but I'm also right but you don't have the cojones to admit it.

Once people get a gov't program in place, especially one of this size, it is almost impossible to remove it. People may say repeal Obamacare but if they lose coverage how many will say 'that's cool'?

The Republicans never should have been so far out of power that this monstrosity was able to pass. Republicans in Congress know they can't repeal this thing yet they keep saying it to voters creating unreasonable expectations.

So tonight Ryan explained that to avoid a filibuster this first phase dealt only with funding and tax repeals- phase two deals with provisions for choices, co-ops, health savings plans etc. He stated that they have strict deadlines due to actual known hours (30) allotted to democrats for obstructionist practices. He stated that they know these practices will be used as tactics to prevent their, the GOP's, ability to take action. This is why the bill is being put together this way. He expects more support after phase 2?

That's the nature of the beast---and it will keep them from doing something brash. Like Trump said, nobody knew how complicated it was lol. He stated the problem in his classic clumsy way.

Complex problems aren't usually amenable to massive overhauls---we learned that much with the ACA.

It should be a bipartisan bill anyway.

Sure...he'll get support, but not from the public, and not enough in the Senate. This is all nonsense. No way a defund of PP is going to be part of this mess when they're done with it.

Also....keeping the 'fun' parts of ACA,without funding is going to be impossible. They're just running in circles because they backed themselves into a corner.

Well for once he is right, she is appallingly naive.

dude.....you are appallingly naive......and you aren't 20.....you still think your jokes are funny and that people care what England thinks about anything.....

Just to hopefully clarify my position on this since it seems to have caused issues. I'm not in any way opposed to helping the poor get out of poverty or opposed to helping them get necessary medical care. I'm just opposed to giving the federal government that much control over our country's population without that power being granted to it through the amendment process. Is healthcare a right or a tax? Right now it's a tax under the disguise of an entitlement program, a mandatory program for nearly all of its existence, but if healthcare is a right like so many people say that it is and we want to hand over that right to be designed and controlled by the federal government in DC then we need to grant that power to it through the amendment process in my opinion. Short of that we are allowing our elected government to pick and choose and define our rights for us based on the politics of the time. It's why I don't like populists politicians like Trump. Government does not tell us what we can do. It's the other way around. We will be good to remember that fact as slowly but surely over time more and more power will be given to the government through our apathy and because of the moment and not through the constitutional process.
