Plus, if Clarence Thomas made it, she damn well should!
No, not really. She may still be fair in her decisions, most decisions the court makes are pretty mundane.
Tell me a court decision you think her sex, and ethnicity will influence and be un-Constitutional?

A Judge’s View of Judging Is on the Record
By CHARLIE SAVAGE
May 15, 2009
WASHINGTON — In 2001, Sonia Sotomayor, an appeals court judge, gave a speech declaring that the ethnicity and sex of a judge “may and will make a difference in our judging.”
In her speech, Judge Sotomayor questioned the famous notion — often invoked by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her retired Supreme Court colleague, Sandra Day O’Connor — that a wise old man and a wise old woman would reach the same conclusion when deciding cases.
“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life,” said Judge Sotomayor, who is now considered to be near the top of President Obama’s list of potential Supreme Court nominees.
I agree with what she says. Diversity of opinion is important and necessary for a just society.

the only opinion that is necessary for a just society is that opinion slanted towards individual rights. rights for everyone, mind you.
But is racism necessary? This bitch is a racist skank.
Individuals are not more important than society.
Diversity of thought and opiniuon are a necessary element of a just society .. which is not served by the sole perspective of white people in a nation of diverse culture.
yes, they are. otherwise we could legally end up with a society that euthanizes people once they reach the age of 60 in order to save the planet or something.Individuals are not more important than the whole (society).
who brought race in to this?Diversity of thought and opinion are a necessary element of a just society .. which is not served by the sole perspective of white people in a nation of diverse culture.
Society is individuals. When people start using the abstraction of society to demand sacrifices, it's just a way the elitists who control society victimize others with a clear conscience. You're 100% brainwashed, and it's very sad.
Society is made up of individuals but is not defined by the individual.
American society is made up of blacks, hispanics, whites, asians, and all manner of distincts that have nothing to do with race. Nothing "individul" about it.
Some of the greatest advances in American society have come through the recognition of our diversity. This appointment, make that over-due appointment is another step ijn advancing OUR society through that recognition. There is nothing "individual" in "our."
I have no problem with you calling me "elitist, brainwashed, or sad." It's not you I'm concerened about. My concern is OUR society.
it's too bad the threads here always end up worthless.
When all individuals are treated justly then society is just. You cannot make society more just by denying rights to some members.Individuals are not more important than the whole (society).
