No more Kneeling for NFL

Previously, you did not believe racial police brutality exists.

I don't recall ever saying such a thing. Why are you employing a falsehood?

I believe it does exist.

Some people believe Bigfoot exists. Get back to me if you have evidence.

We have a president who specifically tells police not to worry about protecting the heads of those who are being placed in the back of a police car.

Is that so? Do you suppose those comments have been acted upon by racist police? If so, please give me the details.

This action by President Trump has made the situation worse, not better.

Please quantify this assertion. Have incidences of racist police brutality attributable to the president been reported? If so, cite them. If not, your argument is specious at best.

I doubt that could be shown as directly as the little school boy who grabbed a little school girl's crotch and then said if the president can do then so can he, but I believe they have.

Please refer to my previous statement regarding your 'beliefs'. You're entitled to have as many as you like, as long as I'm not expected to share them in the absence of factual evidence to support them.

President Trump has made the problem worse by his failure to denounce hate groups, and his equal blaming of both sides in Charlottesville.

Is that right? I seem to recall that he denounced hate groups, and said there were good people on both sides.

In our country...the right to kneel in protest during the anthem is protected.

In the kind of country these jerks would like to turn us into...the right to kneel and to call Donald Trump a lying piece of dung...would be against the law. They'd throw people into jail for doing stuff like that in the world these guys want.

"If no one has the choice but to jump to their feet every time they hear the national anthem, then you don't live in the "land of the free" and if no one has the guts to take a knee during the national anthem then you don't live in the "home of the brave"".

Protected by what or whom?

Yes. They rail against NK and Iran -- yet would love nothing better than to turn America into a duplicate.... with those who espouse their backwards and archaic beliefs in charge, of course.

I'm sure its been discussed earlier and I missed it so I apologize but if speech is determined to be detrimental to an employer the government still protects it over the wishes of the employer?

Unless the players have something pertaining to it in their contract they’re unprotected.

It’s not a First Amendment issue.

From what I've read there's no one size fits all answer. Here's a decent article on the subject. https://www.creators.com/read/judge-napolitano/10/17/is-taking-a-knee-protected-speech

trump should have learned this before opening his big fat piehole and spouting off.

"In the famous flag burning cases a few years ago, the Supreme Court made clear that in America, we have no revered symbols that command orthodox respect. The flag itself represents the right to treat it as one wishes. We are free to respect the flag and to shun those who do not, but we may not harm a hair on their heads."

Curious if you all would get upset if Amish or Jehovas Witness were at a game and didn't stand for the anthem or salute the flag?

Oh wait, I'm sure the "let them stay home" or "why are they even there" crew will be along shortly.

Symbolic speech. Protected under the First.

The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution says that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

The first thing to know about the First Amendment is that it is a limit only on government.

It prohibits the federal government from making laws that infringe on the rights of religion, speech, press, assembly and petition.

Through the Fourteenth Amendment, state and local governments are also prohibited from infringing on these rights.
