No more Kneeling for NFL

Try not to post inanities like this in the future.

You may go now.

You really are not too bright are you? Think about it. If they stopped playing it, would it solve the problem. Really, really think about it. Perhaps go out and seek better opinions than yours. That should be easy to find.

This can be seen as a lot bigger than kneelers. It is Trumps war on dissent. He has all the characteristics of a dictator. Trump is succeeding in taking away the players rights, so far. And the right falls in line, just following orders. trump does not understand the constitution and does not care about it. It is like tax laws. Something to sneak around if you can get away with it., Trump has no respect for the law.

Hello Getin the ring,

I love how the owners have simplified the issue.
You can kneel if you'd like, but kneel in the locker room like the little whiny cowards you are where no one can see you.

sounds fair to me

I think what Kaepernick did was very brave, very selfless. He is a hero of the civil rights movement.

Hello Legion,

In a single case, perhaps.

Good. We're making progress. Previously, you did not believe racial police brutality exists. Now we are simply arguing over how extensive the problem is.

Can you cite examples of Trump's comments making police brutality "worse, not better"?

No, not directly, but it should be noted that what you are asking for could exist yet be nearly impossible to show direct connection. I believe it does exist.

What "meaningful action" do you feel presidents should take regrading police brutalit

Speak out against it. Instead, we have a president who specifically tells police not to worry about protecting the heads of those who are being placed in the back of a police car. I have to wonder if the president feels the term 'Protect and serve' should be 'protect and serve only white people.'

This president has purposely ignored the meaning of the NFL kneelings. He has not addressed the issue, and has instead tried to make it about patriotism. What a demagogue. This action by President Trump has made the situation worse, not better. It is up to those of us who see the difference to speak up when our president makes such a huge mistake. We must remind him that he is the president of ALL the people, not just rich white people.

It is? Have his comments sparked police brutality?

I doubt that could be shown as directly as the little school boy who grabbed a little school girl's crotch and then said if the president can do then so can he, but I believe they have. Race relations went downhill when Obama ignored the deteriorating situation instead of using his bully pulpit to speak out against racial violence and hatred. Obama appeared oblivious to the fact that his election as our first black president sparked widespread racial hatred and increased participation in hate groups, as well documented by the SPLC. President Trump has made the problem worse by his failure to denounce hate groups, and his equal blaming of both sides in Charlottesville.

Hello Getin the ring,

You're missing my point. Trump is reacting, that's the difference. he is reacting to being attacked, defending himself in a way that enough people can relate to, just enough people to maintain his edge.

He is outsmarting liberals and their media lap dogs at every turn.

Only in the minority view of those who don't even believe the news.

As long as liberals keep taking sides with morons on issue after issue, I'd say Trump has got them right where he wants them, in loserville

Trump knows who the "losers" are...and plays them. In public.

He actually tells them he could kill someone on Fifth Avenue...and you guys would continue to kiss his ass.

You are fools being taken.

Watching you jerks being taken is the only aspect of the Trump administration I actually enjoy.;)

Quit playing the damn anthem at games. it is a business, not a patriotic experience. Problem solved.

Actually, in the beginning of the sport of football, the anthem was not played. I suspect the practice began, not out of patriotism or love of country, but as a way to enhance the experience of ticket-purchasers. It could be viewed as 'using false patriotism to sell tickets.' I see it much the same as when a car dealership (even foreign cars no less) puts up a ton of American flags, or puts a gigantic one above their car lot. As if selling cars is the most patriotic thing on that block.

Q: Why else would a car dealership have a gigantic flag which dwarfs the one at the US Post Office down the street?

a) Because they are very patriotic, and would have such a giant flag over their home as well.

b) Because they believe every business should express their patriotism, and they simply want to express it in a very flagrant way.

c) Because they want to get a lot of attention and sell lots of cars and get rich.

I'm gonna have to go with c) every time.

And it's the same with any for-profit business which plays the anthem before a game.

Do ya really think those team-owners require that the anthem be played by a live band at sunrise and sunset, and before every meal they consume at their own homes? After all, they have the money to do that if they wanted to. But I don't think any of them do that. I don't think they are that patriotic. I bet the anthem is only played because they feel it helps their business.

Maybe if they now get the idea it is hurting their business they should just stop.

It didn't have to be this way if President Trump didn't stick his nose into it and make matters worse.

Hello ThatOwlWoman,

Psst -- Intelligent liberal is redundant.

You wish.

Sorry to burst that comfort bubble, but there are plenty of very foolish and stupid liberals to go around.

I've made plenty of foolish and stupid mistakes myself. I can only thank my sense of humility for allowing me to recognize and admit when I screw up so that I might learn from my mistakes and improve. Sadly, I see a lot of people on both sides of the political spectrum who have yet to learn that lesson.

We liberals are humans, just like everybody else. Humans make mistakes. What we do about it when we do does have a bearing on whether or not we repeat our mistakes, or how many times it takes us to learn, but everybody screws up sooner or later.

It's the ones who never admit their mistakes who never learn from them.

We have a lot of conservatives here (as well as some liberals) who seem to prove that one constantly.

If the NFL stopped playing the anthem it would piss off many of their fans.

Which would be a *problem*, for the NFL lol.

Trump is trash.. utterly without ethics or manners. Why can't you see him for what he is? He's alienated our allies and has become a laughingstock among civilized people world wide. .. and he's so damned stupid he wants to take bows before the deal is done.

Trump sure isn't much of a man.

For a short time. then it would fade away. That far ,far lefty Scalia said people have a right to protest., He wishes it were not so, but they do. But not with Trump as prez. Now they don't. And rightys have no problem taking others rights away. Those rights they are taking away, are also yours. You should have more respect for your rights than that.
