Nixon Redux: Comey Fired

Lynch hung him out to dry. That deliberate airplane meet-and-greet with Bubba ensured that Lynch had to hand the ball to Comey for a decision that "she would abide by." She was wrong to do that and he was wrong to accept that inappropriate role. Of course maybe few remember that Comey had no business making a "lawyer's" decision. He was an FBI guy who wanted some political glory by pretending to be a lawyer at that point. That right there was enough to get rid of him.

I agree with that, but Comey didn't have to play ball with the Clinton's and he did. That was his mistake---it went downhill from there.

Or put it this way, if Comey *had* to play ball, the Deep State is pretty deep.

If you don't think this sudden firing in the middle of an investigation... an investigation of trump... isn't suspicious, you're dumber than a box of rocks.

what's suspicious......he was fired because he testified that he did something incredibly stupid.....I know you think you should keep incredibly stupid people in power because you're a liberal.......but liberals are not in charge and we don't think that way.........

You mean that Comey's lies showed that the case against Hillary wasn't as grievous as trump tried to make it out to be. trump can't have that.

trump is scared about something. You can take it to the bank.

Get real lady, Hillary should have been before a grand jury, indicted, tried, found guilty and fined at the very least....

it wasn't up to Comey to even make that decision....that decision was the purview of the Justice Dept., not the FBI

Given everything you said above, trump could have canned Comey on January 21 but he didn't. That's why it's so fishy, that he gets canned in the middle of an investigation.

I don't get that objection.

I thought the investigation was a year old. Democrats would be reacting the same no matter when Trump fired Comey.

Poor Cfan...still clinging to that "the Russians are coming" bullshit and hoping, that even after almost a year of investigation, Trump and Russian collusion will be revived....

if comey knows something trump firing him wouldn't prevent anything. In fact it says the opposite, trump isn't worried at all about a salty comey spilling the beans on something.

In his firing letter he even makes sure to mention that comey has 3 times mentioned trump was not even under investigation. lol.

Again. Why didn't trump fire Comey four months ago?

Lol. Another con using the word "collusion"... I word I never used.

Actually, you're quite right. He didn't have to. Maybe there's some dirt on him from the past. Remember......he and Lynch and the Clintons were very close back in their early years in the swamp. The Clintons can be very "persuasive" when it comes to getting their way. If one is not persuaded, one can fine oneself dead. Just sayin'.

he had to wait until he had his DoJ leadership confirmed. Yesterday it was the 18 days with Flynn.
I think Trump moves at lightening speed - but the Dems just prefer to 2nd guess

I don't know if I go as far as to think the Clinton's off-people lol.

Then again, nothing surprises me. But I absolutely believe they have their tentacles going in every direction in DC, and they may well have been wrapped around Comey. Except, that doesn't square with Comey's October surprise.

My guess he's an attention whore and/or is on a power trip, since he's able to put his fingers on the scale in a national election. That kind of power is like crack to some of these people.

In either event, Comey needed to be fired.

I think you're incredibly stupid and didn't think your post through before you posted it......

I think you're incredibly stupid if you believe anything trump says about anyone. You cling to trump lies like a drunk clings to a lamp post.

"Here’s what Trump told Comey — and projected to the entire world — in his letter firing him:

While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation, I nevertheless concur with the judgment of the Department of Justice that you are not able to effectively lead the Bureau.

On March 20, Comey confirmed under oath to the House Intelligence Committee that the FBI was “investigating the Russian government’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.”

“That includes investigating the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government, and whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia’s efforts,” he said.

Comey declined to answer whether Trump himself was under investigation. Indeed, that information would be a closely guarded secret — that’s what makes Trump’s clearing of his own name, using the ousted FBI Director’s credibility, so surprising."

Why would it matter?

The left gets hysterical when Trump sneezes lol. They'd still claim it had to do with the Russian investigation. In that sense, there was no 'good' time to fire Comey.

First he loved Comey, then he hated him, then he loved him again...

Serious question. Will you believe it if there is damning factual evidence re: trump and Russia?

That is just a flat-out lie. I can't believe cons are still pushing this long-discredited conspiracy theory.

I do know the rank and file FBI are not happy with Comey.
They think he's show off/erratic. I was watching Catherine Herridge awhile ago and she reported there was genuine consternation that Comey INSISTED on evidence of Clinton's intent before he would indict.

Of course the "gross negligence" statute does not require it..So Comey ended up pissing them off too.
