NFL Players Kneel, Raise Fists During National Anthem in Preseason Games

Whatever Kaepernick was trying to do...

...I SUSPECT HE HAS BEEN MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN HE DREAMED.

He's got a bunch of assholes in a dither...and they are helping spread a message that needed to be spread.

You have a bad habit of evading my questions lol.

We both know the Rich Black dude has a much better chance under or justice system than the poor Appalachian bugger.

Because, money. Money buys better legal representation. Regardless of the color of your skin.

What does that say about the justice system?

So, you said all this, as you evaded MY question?

They're separate topics. Yes, money is also a factor with justice. But I think it's undeniable that race is as well. You're trying to distill it down to "it's just money," so that you can marginalize race as a factor.

I don't see how it's possible to deny the influence of race. It's a total disconnect - which you have, btw.

I’m not denying anything. Just pointing out the problem isn’t as ‘black and white’ as Kap and his buddies would have us believe.

Not only is money another factor, it’s a bigger factor, because it will nullify any racial factors.

If I had to guess, I'd say he wanted to bring attention to it & get more people talking about it.
By refusing to stand for the flag during the anthem at an NFL game? While his "intentions" may initially have been good, remember what he said...
"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color."
He didn't discuss what he was going to do with the team...and he said as much...
"I am not looking for approval"...Well, really....what did he expect?

If there is racial discrimination (spoiler alert - there is), money only "nullifies" that if you have some.

I doubt "Kap and his buddies" want you to believe that the ONLY problem in the justice system is race. But race is definitely a problem, and Kap was & is protesting on behalf of his community & to raise awareness of that.

And you have such a major issue with it. Someone is trying to improve treatment of their fellow citizens & fight for equality, and all you can do is ridicule that and tell them what they "should" be doing.

Unfortunately not the message he intended...and he's still out of work....
How is that being more successful than he dreamed....?

But you agree that having/not having money is the dominant factor in our unjust, justice system lol?

Why not ask for some air time during the pre or post game, or half time?

Okay. Then what?

Same thing. They get airtime; people get their snacks. No one talks about it.

This isn't true of all protest movements, but many have effected change by being controversial and making people uncomfortable in some way.

Isn't it a fact that it's all about Trump, Lord Littlethinger?

His intention was to make a point of the police abuse of black Americans. he achieved that.
So after making this point, then what happened? Because that "message" has changed....
And his "movement" is nothing about what it was intended to be any more....

What are we discussing here...and in so many, many other threads across the Internet, TOP.

What are the announcers talking about during each broadcast?

C'mon.

It's okay. You can figure it out.

I mean, this stuff seems pretty obvious to me. It's like asking why they don't write a strongly worded letter to their local paper instead.

They are buffoons, Thing.

That is probably why they hold someone like Donald Trump to be their Dear Leader.

You said it...this isn't true of all protest movements. And it certainly didn't work out for this one...
Especially for issues that are so emotionally charged, controversy and making people uncomfortable just make the situation worse, and the real reason for the protest is buried in the confusion.....and that's what happened here.
It's a shame...
Handled differently, the NFL platform might have worked....
Now, it's pretty much a lost cause....
(I do appreciate the civil conversation about this though....)
