Mozilla CEO resigns after donation to Prop 8

Don't worry. I don't expect you to appeal to me. You re the squishy moderate type the lefties love. I think it is cute that you are surprised by all of this stuff

Man, you are free to label me whatever you like. I'm still waiting for you to show me what policies I support that make you think I'm a moderate. Do I not drop the n-bomb enough for your tastes?

And if I'm trying to win liberal friends I'm probably not going to post articles like this and question why this CEO was forced to resign.

Yes I am free to label you anything I want and I will. Don't worry about it.

Yes this thread is really going to get the lefties ire. You rebel you ;)

LMWAO, yeah, that's it dude. I'm trying to appeal to ILA. Do you not read what ILA says about me? Do you not see his comments about me in this thread? My beliefs are my own. I don't have my beliefs because I hope certain people will like me.

You say you are Libertarian yet your only response to this story is to talk about conservatives and the religious right and act obtuse towards the CEO being forced to resign. No actual response to the story. What if in the future a CEO donates to a Libertarian candidate and employees and clients (and the board) think that makes the CEO a hateful person and they are forced to resign. No big deal?

Sure, that's why I think there is some hope for you and other conservadouches, like grind.

There is nothing obtuse about it. You have provided zero evidence that he was forced to resign. Maybe he was I don't know, but that would be on whoever had the power to do that not who you seemed to focus on, the employees and consumers.

If you can't read between the lines here then I don't know what to tell you. And here's the full letter from the company now about a $1,000 donation that was made six years ago by the company co-founder.

Brendan Eich Steps Down as Mozilla CEO

Mozilla prides itself on being held to a different standard and, this past week, we didn’t live up to it. We know why people are hurt and angry, and they are right: it’s because we haven’t stayed true to ourselves.

We didn’t act like you’d expect Mozilla to act. We didn’t move fast enough to engage with people once the controversy started. We’re sorry. We must do better.

Brendan Eich has chosen to step down from his role as CEO. He’s made this decision for Mozilla and our community.

Mozilla believes both in equality and freedom of speech. Equality is necessary for meaningful speech. And you need free speech to fight for equality. Figuring out how to stand for both at the same time can be hard.

Our organizational culture reflects diversity and inclusiveness. We welcome contributions from everyone regardless of age, culture, ethnicity, gender, gender-identity, language, race, sexual orientation, geographical location and religious views. Mozilla supports equality for all.

We have employees with a wide diversity of views. Our culture of openness extends to encouraging staff and community to share their beliefs and opinions in public. This is meant to distinguish Mozilla from most organizations and hold us to a higher standard. But this time we failed to listen, to engage, and to be guided by our community.

While painful, the events of the last week show exactly why we need the web. So all of us can engage freely in the tough conversations we need to make the world better.

We need to put our focus back on protecting that Web. And doing so in a way that will make you proud to support Mozilla.

What’s next for Mozilla’s leadership is still being discussed. We want to be open about where we are in deciding the future of the organization and will have more information next week. However, our mission will always be to make the Web more open so that humanity is stronger, more inclusive and more just: that’s what it means to protect the open Web.

We will emerge from this with a renewed understanding and humility — our large, global, and diverse community is what makes Mozilla special, and what will help us fulfill our mission. We are stronger with you involved.

Thank you for sticking with us.

Reading between the lines = jumping to conclusions.

We have employees with a wide diversity of views.

However, if any of our employees' views disturbs the delicate sensibilities of society's most degenerate perverts, said employees will be launched from our midst. We view tolerance as a one-way street. And the more rest stops it has, the better.

He resigned ELEVEN DAYS AFTER GETTING THE JOB. Are you seriously this fucking retarded?

So what? The key point is, he resigned. There is no proof that he was forced out. You tools are embellishing.

What if he contributed/supported a campaign to ban interracial marriage?

So you think he just took the job and 11 days later said 'nah, I don't really want this'??? You think he quit on his own?

There are two options moron... he was forced out or he quit on his own. Only a complete fucking idiot would be incapable of figuring out which occurred here.

It is good to see that you are proving again what a fake libertarian you are. He has the right to free speech. He has the right to support whatever he wishes. If he didn't try and incorporate his beliefs into the business, then this should not be an issue. But you think he must conform his beliefs to what the majority want him to believe.
