Mexico ready to hit the US where it hurts: Corn

It's the stupid Al Gorians that have pushed converting food crops into fuel, causing starvation and even triggering the Arab Spring. Thanks Al

Is it fool?
Why did Dubya want to switch to E-20?

If you can't make a point without lying you don't have a point.

The potato famine in Ireland is attributable to Ireland's potato crops being near clones; very little genetic diversity.

Monocultures make mechanized agribidness cheap & easy. We're feeding more people per acre of farmland than ever before.

BUT !!

With the lost of biodiversity we toe ever closer to the precipice.

Monoculture crops may be easier to harvest.

But one blight, one pathogen that can attack Monsanto's GM crops could wipe out our entire nation's harvest of that crop.

If you want some insight into what it's like to survive famine, read Pearl Buck's The Good Earth. Monsanto shoves us closer to the plummet into the abyss for profit.

What good is ROI if the investors all starve to death?
When was the last time investors thought about anything past today's closing numbers? Monsanto is already creating super weeds, and super bugs. Some because farmers don't follow explicit guidelines with respect to sacrifice of portions of a crop in order to keep genetic mutation of the corn worm from happening.

This is yet another stupifying example of how unintelligent Rune is. If you walk into to Mexico at the TJ border, they don't even check ID, nothing, you just walk in. That is how bad they want to keep Americans on this side of the fence.

:palm:

Sure bub.
Right now that is the case.

Not to dissuade your point but Ireland exported the same amount of potatoes to England the year of the famine as the year before.
The real problem was the division of property between children finally passed the tipping point beyond which not enough food could be raised on the average farm plot.

"let me guess.......you think the industry is modifying seed to produce only ONE strain?.......incredibly ignorant......" PP #99

I think 100 years ago farmers could reserve seed from their harvest for next growing season's planting.
I think Monsanto has engineered fertility out of some if not all of their seed crop products.
I think the diminution of bio-diversity among our staple crops is such a great concern that Bill Gates has a depository for bio diversified seed, which Gates maintains outside the U.S.
But we all know what a simpleton Bill Gates, one of the wealthiest men in the world is. Right?
So tell us PP.

I assume you're being facetious about that
That's a serious problems with these nativist Wacko. They're utterly irrational. They want to build a wall around this nation and respond to any contact with the outside world with violence, xenophobia, fear and bigotry. They are clueless to the current interconnectedness of the world and how their point of view was outdated several centuries ago.

If Trumps trade war hurts farmers they'll just demonize Mexicans even more and never, ever accept that maybe, just maybe, they fucked up.

It happens.

Obama promised to close Gitmo his first year in office. Republicans in congress thwarted him for 8 years.

Trump promised Mexico would pay for his wall; an absurdity from the start.
And Mexico's highest ranking representatives have made it clear:

"I'm not going to pay for that %$#@ wall!"
former Mexico President Vicente Fox ~160225, commenting on Republican U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump's claim that as U.S. president he'd build a multi-$Billion dollar wall on the U.S. / Mexico border, and get Mexico to pay for it

The difference is, Constitutional law expert Obama understood he was on solid ground with his intention.

Trump simply thinks he's so skillful a deal-maker that he can talk another nation into spending $billions, on basis of Trump's magnetic personality.

WRONG AGAIN DON !

Trump's sales pitch on his wall is that it'll solve the U.S. illegal immigration problem.

It won't.

And I'm quite skeptical it'll ever be built.

Trump promised to dump ACA. And iirc it was the first thing President Trump put pen to paper for.

If Trump was serious about the wall, the concrete mixers would have been churning at 11:59AM/ET Inauguration Day.

They're not.

If you think Trump is ever going to complete construction on a wall that accomplishes what he promised; then you are a Trump chump.

That's a serious problems with these nativist Wacko. They're utterly irrational. Where did anyone say that they wanted a wall built around the entire nation??

1) It makes me the person who is aware that creating NEW varieties of grain increases rather than decreases the varieties of grain;

a) I never denied it.

b) I never asserted anything to the contrary.

c) The standard I applied is called "reality". Perhaps you'll encounter it some day.

Meanwhile, the genetic diversity in our crops like corn is not expanding, but being drastically reduced.
