McConnell: Trump is responsible for inciting riot

"Following Saturday's vote acquitting former President Trump, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell excoriated Trump for his actions on the day of the attack on the U.S. Capitol, calling them a "disgraceful dereliction of duty." But, he said, ultimately, he did not vote to convict the former president because of constitutional concerns."

Which is the point everyone is missing. Just because democrats would like to throw the Constitution out the window if they could, other rational politicians know what it means.

You agree with McConnell on his interpretation of the Constitution. Do you also agree on his statement that Trump is guilty of the charges against him?

Hello Darth,

Moi lol?

I jump the gun?? Democrats just whiffed on their Snap Impeachment because they weren’t prepared. Why didn’t they have all these supposed witnesses lined up and ready to go? Why did they rely so heavily on a Grade B propaganda clip that was easily shot down by the defense when they showed Democrats doing the very thing they were accusing the defendant of?

And here’s another thing democrats can mull over before they get trial happy and rush into another embarrassment. Actual trials involve discovery which means Trump will be provided an opportunity to prove he wasn’t lying about election fraud. Do Democrats really want to go there and jeopardize their ‘perfect election’ narrative?

Especially, after Molly Ball’s little expose’ in Time Magazine last week. As a matter of fact she’d be an excellent witness.

My advice to democrats and the Trump haters is to just stop. But they never listen to me.

The House had an open-and-shut case already. If that wasn't enough to convince most Republicans, then nothing would. They are much too constrained by their politics to decide the matter on the merit of the case.

The fact that 7 Republicans voted guilty, in a recorded vote, says a lot.

If it had been a secret vote, he would have been ruled guilty by a wide margin.

Just as Liz Cheney was retained in her position by secret vote of more than 2 to 1, after she voted to impeach.

Agreed. McConnell's speech said a lot. They all knew Trump was guilty but let him walk for some reason.

How this plays out over the year should be interesting.

Hello Dutch Uncle,

The reason is quite clear. Even they know it.

We know this because of the 2/1 margin of the Cheney vote.

Most Senate Republicans did not vote on the merit of the impeachment. The evidence presented could hardly have mattered less to them. They voted in a particular way because it was a public vote.

I am convinced impeachments would be far more effective if it became law that in any impeachment trial, the votes must be secret.

And when he refused to testify the defense wanted to use that to infer guilt.

That’s a no-no.

No, it's not. And it didn't work anyway, did it? Why are you always chasing your own tail? Your claim was that Trump didn't have an opportunity to defend himself, which is so stupid all I can do is blink at it. Now you're saying the House managers did a no-no. Get your shit together.

Darth Opie is okay. Not too bright, but okay. He means well even if he cannot comprehend the complex issues being discussed.

Regardless, it’s a done deal. Time will tell if this is a secret plot to let Trump run again or, more likely, if the Proud Boy theory is in play.

Military guys don’t like traitors or backstabbers. The Proud Boys and Boogaloo Bois were ready to kill Americans before to complete their mission of taking over the US government. Now they are all being hunted down as traitors, seditionists and insurrectionists thanks to President Donald J. Trump.

No doubt they are a little confused about what to do: Should they give up and go to prison? Should they commit suicide-by-cop? Or should they go out with a literal bang by taking the person who betrayed them with them to Valhalla?

that's because demmycrats don't care about election fraud.....

There is no fraud. It was proven in every way possible. You cannot be reached by facts.
Mitch delayed the trial without saying why. It was to give the reds an excise to not vote against Trump, which he knew the evidence would prove.
The reds ignored a chance to cleanse the party of a crazy man. Hawley, Cruz and a couple of others delayed their shot at the presidency in 2024. I thought they would vote against Trump due to blind ambition. They are more afraid of Trump and being primaried than I thought.

You would have to ask them. I've told you about 15 times that I'm not a Democrat, but don't let that get in the way of your slopping paint all over the floor with a broad brush. If your blonde-braided woman has a name, provide a link. Otherwise, you're just making noise, like you always do.

Well, we are talking about a lot of people, many individuals. They are already kind of messed up, so there's no telling what one or a handful could do. Any kind of widespread planning would certainly be discovered before any incident, giving authorities time to plan. I would not look for any kind of surprise large scale activity, but there could certainly be incidents. It would probably be a really bad idea for them to try to hold some kind of rally or demonstration any time soon. I can't figure why our government has not designated them a terrorist group yet.
