Largest and most successful airlift in history

The catastrophe that never was

Only Three Americans Remain in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON D.C., DC — More than three months after the U.S. pulled all of our military units out of Afghanistan, Sen. Angus King, I-Maine, said all but three Americans who wanted to leave that country have now been able to do so.

That’s one of several pieces of information King brought back after a quick fact-finding trip to Pakistan and Qatar over the weekend.

It doesn’t matter what facts you present, like everything else, the Trumpers aren’t going to believe it and continue to spread misinformation.

Trumpers do not write the history books yet. 20 years from now Biden's airlift from Afghanistan will be a footnote in the history books, and not the epic clusterfuck for the ages middle aged and elderly white men on jpp.com wish it were.

The fact that Biden's tenure so far is viewed poorly by some is a tribute to Fox. Constant propaganda works.

In truth, Biden ended a war, and the economy is doing well & improving with each passing month. I don't personally think he has been a great President or any kind of transformational visionary - but he's certainly a solid President, and doing a good job in unprecedented circumstances.

Pending any last minute disasters, arguably the largest and most masterful U S. Airlift in history.

Less than 300 Americans left in Afghanistan

As of Sunday, the U.S. has evacuated roughly 114,400 people from Afghanistan since Aug. 14,

The airlift may have become the largest and fastest in U.S. military history, depending on how the total numbers carried on coalition aircraft are counted.

This Afghanistan withdrawal isn't even a campaign issue.

None of the righwing predictions of kidnapped and beheaded Americans ever came true.

A terrorist attack that killed 13 people was a tragedy, but this withdrawal was not an epic clusterfuck for the ages. If it were, it would be a major campaign issue.

The moral of the story: it was absolutely the correct call to withdraw from a pointless 20 year war.

So true

In two years it will be remembered as a plus

Biden got us out of the mess the republicans created

Less than 300 Americans left in Afghanistan

Most of those "left behind" were dual citizens who for whatever reason wanted to stay, or aid workers who decided to keep doing what they were doing. I wish them the best, but honestly if you stayed behind there is little the US can do for you. From my understanding, they are almost all doing OK... In relative terms.

A C-17 can max out at about 200 people on an flight--let's say 150 per flight to be conservative. That's 16 flights a day. That's nothing. There are commercial airports all over the world that move more people than that everyday.

They shipped out 19,600 in one day. That still is less than a major airport, but an airport has fuel, and infrastructure that Afghanistan does not have. Getting the fuel into Afghanistan so that people can get out, considering there was no land route, and how far the people needed to go to get out of the area... It was impressive.

And earlier this week we were able to kill an Al Qaeda leader in Afghanistan with good Intel and an over the horizon missile strike.

The MAGA contingent were screaming for us to keep a military footprint in Afghanistan, but that would just make the soldiers sitting ducks, and I doubt we would get much bang for the buck

They are still being evacuated from the country mostly by former American military personnel. The Biden administration isn't doing it. Biden promised that we would get every American out before we left. . That was a lie. We also have thousands of legal permanent residents trapped in Afghanistan. We gave assurances to Afghans that helped use then we abandoned them.

Chicago O'hare handles about 250,000 passengers a day.

Phoenix Skyharbor Airport beats that.

The Afghan airlift was a shit show.

First, not by former American military personnel. An ex-Marine would have no idea how to payoff a Taliban customs official, or buy fuel from a black market dealer. More importantly, the last place you want to be caught is next to former American military. It makes you look like CIA agent, and you will be executed. The Taliban is not that upset with people leaving, but working with the CIA is a big deal.

If you want to get out of Afghanistan, you pay a bribe to the local warlord/crime boss. They will gladly get you out. The Taliban does not want to have to deal with people who do not want to be there.

The Biden administration isn't doing it.

If America tries to help you in Afghanistan, you will be executed. No one wants that type of help. They want help getting out, but not getting out through death.

You have watched too many Rambo-style movies. That is not the way to get out of this situation.

We also have thousands of legal permanent residents trapped in Afghanistan.

Many chose to stay there. They had businesses or family they did not want to abandon. They thought, rightly or wrongly, they could work with the Taliban.

Zablon Simintov was believed to be the last Jewish person in Afghanistan. His family had been in Afghanistan since before Jesus. He refused to leave, even after the Taliban took over, because he did not want to get a divorce from his wife(who was in Israel). The Taliban wanted him out, but did not want to push him out. Finally, they agreed to pay a whole bunch of his neighbors to leave with him. There was no need to hire Rambo.

Chicago O'Hare Airport has a pipeline to bring jet fuel to it. If the pipeline breaks, then trains can bring jet fuel to it. If the trains break, then trucks can bring jet fuel to it. If all ground transportation fails, then planes can fly fuel in from a short distance. In Afghanistan, you have to fly fuel from a thousands of miles away. It is insane.

One of the new problems getting people out of Afghanistan is that the Taliban cannot get fuel. You literally have to walk out of Afghanistan.

trump really negotiated the worst possible exit from Afghanistan. Biden was basically stuck with it.

That clearly makes Biden the bigger fool...
