I've got a particular semi automatic handgun that I can put 9 rounds through, in 2.5 seconds.
The normal "ear witness" doesn't even have the knowledge of what an automatic rifle truthfully sounds like; now add in the echo effect from the surrounding buildings and one round could sound like 4 or 5.
