Yeah, sadly, too many greedy bastards in this world. The incentives use to be help mankind, people who made discoveries in the medical field use to not make huge profits off other people's misery, times have changed.

They did. Overwork was not part of the plan. But the folks there are unhappy with lack of care so govt is trying to squeeze more out.

Yes, they did make money. They spent a lot less of course so there wasn't so much to recoup. And testing was lessentially rigorous so we wound up with turpentine as a medicine and the Beyer people came up with heroin.
It's always been about making a buck.
