It was. that is why we have the electoral college. The institutions of today do not offer equal opportunity for minorities. Loans and auto insurance are redlined. Poor neighborhoods pay greater auto insurance rates. https://www.americanprogress.org/article/systematic-inequality-american-democracy/

How is the American citizen's vote taken away? There are provisions for the military, the elderly and the disabled to vote. The rest should vote in person. All should be properly registered and each vote accounted for. We have computer systems that can easily confirm ONE vote for each registered voter. Use them!
