Is It Time To Consider Mandatory Testing?

Hello Darth,

The whole Russian thing was a misdirection play to keep the focus off China.

Russia isn’t exactly benign but ‘pimple on China’s ass’ is an adequate metaphor.

China makes so much money off the US, and has so much invested in the US, they have a vested interest in US success. Putin is nothing but threatened by the US. He has everything to gain by promoting US dysfunction, for it gives him the soapbox to stand on and claim his way is better: "Look at how bad it is there!"

Leftwing talking points arent working anymore either. Even the people who rattle them off do not believe them. The independent thinkers do not believe them anymore either and we surely do not. But be my guest,.... keep rattling them off,.... in the end you are only helping us. ;)

Nah...noT necessary.

I notice you did not dispute my comment, "People on your side of the aisle, Stone, are doing more damage to America and America's standing in the world, than all of our foreign enemies combined."

Good that you didn't, because for certain: People on your side of the aisle ARE doing more damage to America and America's standing in the world, than all of our foreign enemies combined.

Got any posts to back that up?

Statistically, COVID is almost infinitely more dangerous than the vaccine. But many conservatives have taken the opposite position. Just cuz.

Yeah, cuz their masters have required it of them. They bend the knee to their betters...which in their minds means to almost anyone kissing Trump's ass.

Hello Diesel,

That seems to be the route we are taking, but COVID does not kill a large enough percentage for us to expect a conclusion such as you envision any time soon.

If we want our old lives back it appears we will have to do something differently. I am thinking mandatory testing regardless of vaccination status might be the answer. I'm certainly open to hearing a better idea.

I don't see how mandatory testing is going to solve anything. Who will track the testing? How often should we all be tested? What do we do with the millions of people who refuse to get tested? What are we supposed to do if we test positive? Who's going to enforce that?

The reality is that we lost to COVID. The pandemic will rage on. This fall and winter will be as dark or darker than last fall and winter were. Tens of thousands (or more) people will die. More than that will be hospitalized and then suffer the lingering effects of COVID for the rest of their lives. We do not have a consensus that agrees that the virus is a problem and that we should try to eradicate it or even minimize it. I am aware that you are, in my opinion, foolishly optimistic, but we are not going to be on a better track anytime soon. We will never, ever again get our old lives back. The pre-COVID world is gone forever.

That's a worst case scenario. The war on COVID is not over. We do not have to accept defeat.

You've posed some very good questions about how mandatory testing might work. I wish I had all the answers, but of course I don't. If I or anybody did, we'd have a plan in place to work towards the goal.

We need to:

1. Identify who has it and who doesn't. (We have the means.)

2. Isolate those who have it away from social contact.

That would shut down the spread of the bug.

I refuse to believe it is as bleak as you think, that we will never get control of it. This can't be the new normal forever. Humans have been through pandemics before and survived. And with less technology than we have now.

Along with the synthetic vaccines we already have, high caliber people are also working on better vaccines. The link is just one, the first that came up in a quick search.

We are humans. We are smarter than this bug. We will find a way to get control of this. It's only a matter of time.

It serves no purpose to give up hope.

Good to see you back posting again, Frank. You been gone? Or have I just missed overlapping with you for a while...

I have hope for myself and for the people I love. I have no hope whatsoever in American society. I don't think COVID will extinct humans. It will kill people every year for the rest of our lives until and unless the abject morons of the world decide to get vaccinated. I have no hope for our political culture or system. I have no hope for race relations in the US. I have no hope that all humans will agree to treat each other well because we are in the worst condition, as a species, that we have been in for hundreds of years. I don't mean this as an overly negative criticism, but your lack of details related to your proposed mandated testing proves that mandated testing isn't going to work. It's utterly pointless except that a very few people might actually surrender in order to keep their jobs, their freedom, or their way of life.

What we should do is lock every unvaccinated person into a compound until they change their mind or die. But this is the US, so that's never going to happen. The result is that Americans will never be safe from COVID because too many Americans don't want to be safe from COVID. They don't want their families or neighbors or coworkers to be safe from COVID. They're literally supporting and encouraging a deadly virus because it annoys liberals. That is the entire story. Take care of yourself and your loved ones. The rest of the country is fucked beyond repair.

Hello Frank,

I've been around and posting.

Not even trying to keep my head tucked in.

;)

Right on. Good on ya. I guess we've simply been engaging with different threads.

Been watching any NFL Football?

NFL players all have to get regular mandatory COVID tests.

If we can do that for football teams, why can't we at least do mandatory testing for Americans?

After all. We are all in the same league when it comes to COVID.

"The NFL’s Chief Medical Officer Allen Sills said Thursday that nearly 93 percent of all NFL players have been vaccinated, leaving roughly 200 players leaguewide who remain unvaccinated.

With that as a backdrop, the NFL is proposing to test vaccinated players weekly vs. bi-weekly while the NFLPA wants daily testing for vaccinated and unvaccinated alike. (Unvaccinated players already get tested daily.)"

Thanks for your honest view.

I don't think it's quite that bad, and I do have way more hope for our future. Race relations are really better than you say, also. Anybody can sit anywhere they like on a bus, eat in any restaurant, and vote if they desire to negotiate the many hoops and hurdles. And nobody is a slave.

I'm glad you posted. Caused me to think of a new slogan you might like:

COVID: Annoys liberals. Destroys conservatives.
