That's a worst case scenario. The war on COVID is not over. We do not have to accept defeat.
You've posed some very good questions about how mandatory testing might work. I wish I had all the answers, but of course I don't. If I or anybody did, we'd have a plan in place to work towards the goal.
We need to:
1. Identify who has it and who doesn't. (We have the means.)
2. Isolate those who have it away from social contact.
That would shut down the spread of the bug.
I refuse to believe it is as bleak as you think, that we will never get control of it. This can't be the new normal forever. Humans have been through pandemics before and survived. And with less technology than we have now.
Along with the synthetic vaccines we already have, high caliber people are also working on
better vaccines. The link is just one, the first that came up in a quick search.
We are humans. We are smarter than this bug. We will find a way to get control of this. It's only a matter of time.
It serves no purpose to give up hope.
