Non-sequitur. They have a right to do something. That does not mean it can not contradict the best ideals of our nation.

Again, they have every right to be intolerant pricks. We do have to tolerate the intolerant, e.g., nAHZi.

Burning a book represents a desire to repress the thoughts and speech of others. That is unamerican, in my view. That is, it is an act contradictory to the ideals upon which our nation was founded.

Free expression is an ideal of this nation.

you should evaluate islam more rationally, instead of being a jihadist facilitator.

rights and the ability to express them, no matter how repugnant IS an american ideal.

The Church has every right under the first amendment to burn Korans, millions if they want. But when I hear about book burnings, this is what I see:

Notice, there are many people in this picture with swastika's on their arms and at least one flag. This is what Nazis do, this is what intolerant people do.

Heres what I think of... LOL! The right has always relied on fear and hate to control their minions.

Yep. And a speech act that sends a message of a desire to repress the expression of others is unAmerican. Again, there is no connection between the two points.

Nobody's talking about seizing quran's. Or stopping people from reading their contents.

All americans should read the quran. Just so they know that burning it is the correct response.

I have not said a word about anyone stopping this or making it illegal.

I have called it stupid and unamerican.

That's about the supidest thing I ever heard. That's reverse decrimination and circular logic. How long have you been an alcholic dude. What you're saying is that my voicing opposition to some lunatic commiting a stupid and Un-Amierican act is an infringement on their rights? How so? Please explain that one to me.

Well see... there were these people who wanted to build a trophy mosque at ground zero........

:palm:

So you'd accept and think it valid if people protest these proposed burnings? If said protests brought enough public censure to bear and they didn't burn them as a result...is that OK?

would it be any different than burning copies of the unabomber manifesto? or of the writings of koresh? or how about the necronomicon?
Point of order: The Necronomicon doesn't actually exist.

As for the topic, what good is a right if you never exercise it? I may disagree with what these people are saying, but am at no point saying that they shouldn't say it.

Personally I love seeing this sort of thing. It tests my tolerance for stupidity. This is the best part of freedom; people doing something that you find morally repugnant. And I say this is the best part because the simple fact of the matter is, one day you might find yourself in their shoes, wanting to exercise your right regardless of common sense or public opinion.

They already have that, it's covered under Burn a US Flag or Effigy Day... it comes between Stone Women and Gays Day and Behead Christians and Jews Day!

What a bloody stupid people Americans are. They can't even spell K-O-R-E-A-N-S-!!!!

THIS!

On the topic of Qu'ran burning: When the University of Alabama was being burned during the Civil War, Univerisity librarion André Deloffre pleaded that the library be spared. Colonal Thomas Johnston is said to have agreed to save one book and it was a English translation of the Qu'ran still a part of the Gorgas Library Collection.

Thomas Johnston must have been a Jihadist Noahide Masonic theocratic supporting fuck! Only reason to support no burning a Qu'ran.
