So you'd accept and think it valid if people protest these proposed burnings? If said protests brought enough public censure to bear and they didn't burn them as a result...is that OK?

Point of order: The Necronomicon doesn't actually exist.

As for the topic, what good is a right if you never exercise it? I may disagree with what these people are saying, but am at no point saying that they shouldn't say it.

Personally I love seeing this sort of thing. It tests my tolerance for stupidity. This is the best part of freedom; people doing something that you find morally repugnant. And I say this is the best part because the simple fact of the matter is, one day you might find yourself in their shoes, wanting to exercise your right regardless of common sense or public opinion.

On the topic of Qu'ran burning: When the University of Alabama was being burned during the Civil War, Univerisity librarion André Deloffre pleaded that the library be spared. Colonal Thomas Johnston is said to have agreed to save one book and it was a English translation of the Qu'ran still a part of the Gorgas Library Collection.
