Hakeem Jeffries wins House Speaker Vote

I tend to think the Republicans scapegoat and vilify their political rivals more than Democrats. When was the last time Democrats tried to keep a president in power with lies about a stolen election then tried to overturn the government in a violent attack? I don't know a Democrat who claims trump stole the 2016 election.

Now, magas will try to claim there's an equivalency between the Mueller probe and J6. There is not equivalency. For one thing - one is legal the other is not. Also, contrary to what magas claim, there was a lot of meat in the Mueller report about trump lackeys working with the Russians.

I don't take any MAGA moron seriously. They wouldn't know the truth if it slapped them in their faces. They belong to a cult and have abandoned any self respect or credibility they ever had.

Well, yah. Same here. My point was - when someone takes the "both sides do it" argument, referencing Dems and Repubs, IMO, the Repubs are much, much worse regarding attacking anyone who disagrees with them. J6 is an example.. more recent there was a rash of magas attacking other Republicans and their families for daring to oppose Gym Jordan as speaker.

Neither party is perfect, but today's Republican party is much, much worse.

Well, I'm of the opinion that when one can grasp power in your favor - whether it benefits others or not, many people - not all - but many will do it. The Republicans are the party of the wealthy and privileged who act like populists in their words but not in their actions. trump and Bush are great examples - tax cuts for the rich while cutting benefits for the lower classes.

I just had lunch with a colleague last week - he's in the same profession as me but with another company. He told me that trump's tax laws disallowed him from claiming unpaid business expenses, like personal car expenses as a deductions. That's not helping the little guy.

It amazes me how fans of people like trump, Bush, and Reagan worship them for their words and ignore their actions.
Agreed there's a lot of selfish self-interest out there. A product of the "Me Generation". LOL Agreed too that the Republicans epitomize the idea. What amazes me so much is how many poor and poorly educated people support them.

There's zero doubt in my mind that tax laws favor the rich with the occasional bone tossed to the middle class and the poor. Again, what amazes me most is how many people fall for the idea.

Me too. Why do you think they are so gullible? So willing to worship? So willing to ignore the actions and the results?

Doesn't stop you from trying.

Have you been psychoanalyzed before and it deeply affected you? Your parents when you came out as gay? Something makes you extremely defensive and secretive.

FWIW, I understand it's over 20 years into the 21st century. What makes me curious is why so many people still think it's the 1960s.

I think religion has a lot to do with how the Republicans are successful in getting people to vote against their own self-interest. Using abortion and birth control as wedge issues, for example. Also, racism as a cudgel works. Remember how trump started his 2016 campaign by talking about "Mexicans being criminals and only some are good people". His promise to "build a wall" appealed to many of the uneducated and even educated people in law enforcement who've had issues with minorities. Many of the J6 attackers had either law-enforcement or military backgrounds.

Agreed the Republicans have manipulated religion for political purposes. Abortion and gay marriage were clearly religious oriented wedge issues. Something that wasn't an issue before the USSR folded. Unless you think most Americans are dumbasses, then there are other factors in play here.

Agreed racism is part of it. Fearmongering works very well against the poor and poorly educated. It allows them to believe that the blame isn't on them for being losers and dumbasses, but that the blame falls on others. Solution?: better education of Americans.

No. I'm also not gay. For fuck sake, you and Stone are on the same level in terms of just talking out of your ass with little to no grasp whatsoever on reality.

My apologies. You're a pansexual. Please forgive the confusion.

again retard - this is not a beauty contest

the person with the most votes the other day does not win, did not win and will not win

now go fuck your retard girlfriend some more - democrats need more votes

Still not winning though. Neither of them won, if they did they would be Speaker. Hakeem Jeffries hasn't won a single vote.

Not winning the Speakership, but it appears Jeffries has won 210 votes and Gym Jordan only 197 per the post.

Damo, why do you think the Republican party is so divided that they can't choose a Speaker over the past three weeks?
