Yes! Most people in this country shop for groceries among those five corporations. Between them, they control about 90% of the market.

So most of our food supply is controlled by just 5 corporations...and it's even a smaller number of corporations that produce food to be sold among those 5 dominant chains.

So like I said, everything you are trying to warn about socialism is what capitalism already does.

Same w/ medicaid. Monitor how much those recipients spend on cigs and deduct that same amount from their medicaid benefits.

Those margins would look a lot better if the executives at the top weren't compensated so highly for creating starvation communities.

Over the past two years, both Walmart (four of eight) and Whole Foods (two of four) have closed half their Chicago locations.

Rampant crime both inside and around those locations renders their continued operation a costly risk with a practically unrealizable upside.

One can’t fault these stores for avoiding the ridiculous political maelstrom that would no doubt engulf them were they to plainly state this truth; after all, the Windy City’s own voters and mayor themselves flatly refuse to acknowledge reality.

Enter Brandon Johnson, the aforementioned far-left mayor who all but campaigned on ensuring Chicago’s continued decline.

“We know access to grocery stores is already a challenge for many residents, especially on the South and West sides,” acknowledged Johnson in a statement before insisting his administration would pursue “innovative, whole-of-government approaches to address these inequities.”

“I am proud to work alongside partners to take this step in envisioning what a municipally owned grocery store in Chicago could look like,” he continued.

That 1st pic looks like the "Cuban" store in my neighborhood. Mainly they sell Cubans. They have a smattering of other things on the shelves.

Nobody really goes there to shop for food. They make a good and cheap Cuban, though.
