Once again Chicago is in the news for its stupidity. Apparently Chicago is considering owning and operating a grocery store to address food deserts caused by (you're going to love this) "historic disinvestment". In other words grocery stores have fled the city and because they were losing money to crime like shoplifting. Of course the idiot mayor uses terms like "inequities" regarding food. Maybe if Chicago wasn't a shithole and crimes were punished maybe businesses wouldn't "disinvest" in the city.

Also does anyone actually think govt can effectively run a grocery store and are we to believe no one would steal from a govt store?

The Revolution fully intends to get rid of private property but I doubt that the stores will be run directly by the government, they will be confiscated and handed over to NGO's to operate.

Thats coming. They have to first finish deciding who can drive what and when. When everyone is forced into buying EVs the cost of electricity will skyrocket. That in turn will make the govt say they need to federalize the grid to "control" costs. In other words who can drive what and when.

They weren't losing money, they just weren't making AS MUCH MONEY as they wanted.

It was a capitalist decision to create food deserts, not a government one.

As opposed to right now where a select few control most of the food supply; Albertsons, Kroger, Target, Costco, Walmart.

The dirty secret is that every single blue urban center pays the way for people like Yakuda who don't earn enough money to pay taxes for the services they leech off their entire lives.

Every single red state is like that...the cities do all the work, and the Conservative losers take it all for themselves.

Yakuda should be thanking us for paying the taxes that make it possible for him to sit comfortably in his hovel, sucking up every government service there is.

If government spending truly matched the taxes that were paid, places like where Yakuda lives would look like most of rural Appalachia.

what is your opinion on municipalities denying homeowners the right to plant gardens in their yard? regulate farmers markets out of existence? require expensive permits for small farmers to use roadside produce stands????
