GOP is dead: Repub strategist stunned by reception to Trump’s ‘unhinged’ CPAC rant

She was up over 8 pts when Comey gave that press conference. For making him president, Trump fired Comey. Not much of a thank you.

@ the time I recall predicting he would be fired. After he did that to hillary, trump was not going to be able to trust his crooked presidency to someone unwilling to put him before everything..

just heard on MSNBC - Trumps crazed rant at CPAC was 200,000 words long (2 hrs) and contained 104 known lies

well he's up to over 9,000 lies latest count so that makes sense

Only a 104 but whose counting....lol

Two hours, I couldn't hang 2 mins listening to that sob...

It is Trump's party now.

Conservatism = Trumpism.

Trumpism = Conservatism.

I plan on spending years to come reminding conservatives that, almost to a man, they cheered Trump, supported Trump, defended Trump, worshipped Trump, and provided cover to Trump. They made Trump the most popular and beloved Conservative Republican politician of the modern era.
nope Bill Kriston/Bush conservatism is dead -it's death throes/
Trump is the new populism, and this isn't going to stop with Trump.

well at least you made a serious attempt at a post! * how did THAT happen?*

Tea bags were limited government conservative purists -NOT populists like Trump.
There really isn't any party that wants limited government anymore- including Trump

You might be surprised actually to hear me say this, but I agree with you and basically consider Trump to be a vindication of everything I have been telling conservatives on message boards for the better part of two decades.

Namely, that modern American conservatism was never based on CATO think tank economic schemes, it was never based on NAFTA-style corporate trade agreements, it was never based on Wall Street deregulation schemes, it was never based on the esoteric economic fantasies of the type that graced the pages of National Review, Heritage Foundation, and various and sundry elitist conservative insider institutions.

There was never a widespread constituency for any of that self-styled conservative mental masturbation. It was only the agenda of a small group of corporate overlords, Wall Street bankers, DC insiders, and the rightwing blogger elite.

Conservativism, at the national scale, was always about racial resentment, white Christian nationalism, and xenophobia. Period, end of story. And for the past two decades, self styled conservative message board posters would holler in protest whenever I pointed this out. Now it is out in the open for everyone to see: Trump is the end game, the natural and predictable consequence of modern movement conservatism. Basically vindicating what I have been telling teabaggers for years on end.

Not at all.

It's just been re-branded.

They don't oppose Trump because of his policies, they oppose Trump because he says the quiet parts of Conservatism out loud and it makes them look bad.

mp is the new populism, and this isn't going to stop with Trump.

Trump is not a populist; he's clearly a fascist.

Which is exactly what the liar was able to tap into...

He won their hearts right off the bat, he knew exactly what they wanted, they cheered & loved him...

lol. you forgot "Trump is a dictator/Hitler".. :palm:
I'm not in the mood for your hyperbolic nonsense today. go play elsewhere

He wants to be a dictator, sure.

And you're here to carry his water for him.

That's going to stink when the time comes for him to leave.

No teabags this time.

He definitely wants to be a dictator...and that used to worry me a lot.

But I have come to realize that he is too ignorant to pull it off on is own...and he simply does not have enough powerful friends to do it with help.

Unfortunately, he will be remembered by history as a stink that kept on stinking. We won't wash this off for a VERY LONG TIME.

His "water carriers" ought to hide in shame!
