Fucking Pig Feds, This story has me absolutely disgusted.

 Nice try. Yes, I did notice the chart is titled, "Chart of the Day: Effective Tax Rates by Income Category". Can you spot the operative word there? I'll give you a hint. It starts with a vowel.

tick-tock

tick-tock

tick-tock

BUZZZZZ

Time is up. The word is "Income" as in "worked for", "earned".....you know, those words Conservatives love so much.

OK. Let's cut to the chase. I'm not going to give you a course on the US tax system considering I don't even know enough about my own income tax. (The Mrs. is a Chartered Accountant and looks after that for me.) However, not all money received is considered income, again, as in "worked for" or "earned", in the general sense. I'll give you one example. Municipal Bonds. Interest on Municipl Bonds is tax-free at the federal level and at the state level if one invests in the state in which they live. So, one can invest, say, $10 million or $50 million in bonds and collect the interest to live on and not owe any taxes. Zero. Nada.

Now, who do think has $10 million or $50 million to invest in Municipal Bonds? Your local mechanic? The gal at the donut shop? ;) The reality is the gal at the donut shop will pay more income tax than the guy who is living off the interest from Municipal Bonds. So, while you may think I'm woefully uninformed or a liar I'm willing to bet your keyboard is routed via your ass. Am I correct?

The gal at the donut shop is a student and is just starting out in life, while the wealthy person has spent years working and building something. Dumb ass.

I never said people shouldn't pay tax. You keep telling us how unfair things are, but you can't tell us what exactly is "fair".

How much should Bill Gates pay in taxes to be "fair".

It depends on how much money he receives. I do not have access to his financial statement. As for what is fair check the example I gave of what is unfair in msg. #340

How can you say Bill Gates is unfair if you don't even know how much he makes or how much he gives in taxes and charitable contributions?

so in the specific examples I showed, how does that work? is it just for the feds to amass a huge amount of tax dollars from the public without being accountable for failure to provide for those services? you do realize that you're only bankrolling the same corrupt business practices that you accuse the big corporations of, and the only difference is that you're allowing an unaccountable entity to do it?

People can hold the government accountable. Do you get to vote on who sits on the board of Lockheed Martin?

What you explained? Are you referring to your rag-tag bunch of misfits terrorizing the population? Hey, if your goal is to get a buzz from "the chair" what can I say?
you must be a member of the csgv, you know that group that thinks it's constitutional of the government rounds up and executes millions of people based upon religious, ethical, or ideological preferences and that the people are not allowed to defend themselves with firearms from that kind of constitutional action by the government.

Of course! Gee, I should have realized. Take as much money as you can from the student, make it as difficult as possible for her to save for/get an education while the guy who sits on his ass and collects tax-free money lectures us on how hard he worked. Then, in a few years after the gal has a child or two and tries to find a job but can't because she has no education we can criticize and belittle her for collecting welfare. Then, as a follow-up we can rant and rave about entitlement programs like SS and complain there aren't enough young people working to support the system.

I assure you I'm trying my best to understand the inexplicable, convoluted thinking of Repubs/Conservatives.

No one is taking anything from the girl at the donut shop. She doesn't make enough money to pay Federal income tax. Besides that, she's an alcoholic and a drug addict. She's going to vote Democrat, get pregnant time after time, and then we will all have to support her and her bastard children. God bless America.

Ah, charitable contributions. Yes, good point. In many cases they're just "pet projects" or hobbies one enjoys. Considering the number of charities the priority is food and shelter for people. I have nothing personal about a museum or art gallery but when it comes to children not getting a good breakfast Mona Lisa's smile does nothing for me.

No, actually I'm for gun ownership. I think if more people owned a gun and knew how to use it there would be considerable less crime. If someone decided to commit a crime, mug someone in a dark alley or break into a home, they would know their life is on the line. As for the government rounding up people religious, ethical, or ideological preferences have no bearing. It's the refusal to go along with the law regardless whether it contradicts one's religious, ethical, or ideological preferences. Think what you want. Believe what you want but you know the old saying, "To get along, you go along." :)

the people have been amazingly accepting of the corruption going on for decades, why do you think that will change now or that they'll care in my revolution scenarios?

The same reason they had OWS. The same reason they voted for Obama, again, even if his record is less than stellar. Regular Joe is starting to realize he has no security, job or medical. The stock market/imvestments? His pension? Even the value of his home is questionable. What can Joe depend on? That big, blue sky outlook held by the average wanna-be self-made man is getting a wee bit cloudy.

Oh, yes, children are starving in the streets in America. Oh, yeah. So many imaginary victims and so little of other people's money to take care of them. Yup, yup.

and if it became the LAW that all people of asian descent were to report to prison camps and the government then started rounding up all asian americans, would it be ok in your mind to 'go along to get along'??

so basically what you're saying is that you're quite content drinking the democrat koolaid knowing that they are lying to your face, but they are using the right words.

Damn, you're a hard dude! Obviously we don't frequent the same donut shop because if you saw her you'd never say that.

There needs to be fundamental change to society. Old people expect the younger generation to contribute to their pension (SS), yet, they always talk negative about youth and make life as difficult as they can for them. Common sense and logic dictates we should make education as affordable as possible for them because they'll be the ones earning the money that goes towards our pensions. They'll be the ones carrying on society.

It's not just due to poverty. With both parents working some don't take the time to get their child a proper breakfast. Let's be realistic here. If Mom and Dad are getting ready for work they are not going to sit at the breakfast nook and coax their chld to eat. If the child just got up it's probably not hungry right away, anyway. So, the school can at least offer a container of milk. Make sure the child brought a lunch. A peanut butter sandwich is better than a child going without a lunch.

I worked in a large school repairing the HVAC equipment. I saw the kids coming to school improperly dressed. It was in the poorer part of town and the school had a donated clothing boutique as some of the kids came to school in what can only be described as rags. One little girl came up to me and showed me her new dress the teacher's aid just put on her. When you see a 6 year old girl all excited about getting a second hand dress ones views/priorities become focused.
