I believe there is a quote from the Russians that Ukraine being a part of NATO is simply not going to be allowed to happen. China certainly signed off on that.

In 2014, after Russia annexed Crimea and was engaged in a conflict with Ukraine over its eastern parts, Macgregor appeared on Russian state-owned network RT where he called for the annexation of the Donbas and said residents of the region "are in fact Russians, not Ukrainians, and at the same time, you have Ukrainians in the west and in the north, who are not Russians.
 
It was damaged in fairly shallow waters where it is easier to repair. It could have been Russia in an attempt to destabilize Europe. And point a finger at the US or Ukraine. Russia was going to shut of Nord Stream l and Nord Stream ll wasn't delivering product yet. So the economic loss to Russia was relatively small and the destabilization of Europe was big.

We cant rule out the Ukrainians. If this can be concluded that sure would put the Europeans in an tough spot....the people they are suffering for fucking them over.
