That's the major problem with opening schools, beaches and playgrounds: Kids don't "social distance", wear masks correctly and are completely oblivious to medical recommendations to prevent transmission of disease. That's proved by looking at STD rates: https://www.cdc.gov/std/stats17/adolescents.htm

incidence and prevalence estimates suggest that young people aged 15–24 years acquire half of all new STDs1 and that one in four sexually active adolescent females has an STD, such as chlamydia or human papillomavirus (HPV).2 Compared with older adults, sexually active adolescents aged 15–19 years and young adults aged 20–24 years are at higher risk of acquiring STDs for a combination of behavioral, biological, and cultural reasons.

While it's unlikely kids will pass on an STD to Nana and Pop-pop, they most certainly can pass along Cold Sores and COVID-19.

To their teachers, school staff, bus drivers, coaches, etc. as well. One of our nursing homes up here had an outbreak of the virus at the beginning of the pandemic. Several residents died, and several staff members were infected. They were offering huge sign-on bonuses and hefty paychecks to entice nurses and CNAs to work there. How are schools going to be able to do that when their staff is quarantined?

They can't. Additionally, the Governors who opened up too soon are taking massive hits. Sure, most did it because of their Trumpian constituents, but now the results are clear. A Governor who opens schools in the face of this resurgence of COVID is kissing his/her political career goodbye is a single child dies of COVID-19 caught in school. He/she would be labeled "Child Killer" for the rest of their lives.

Unfortunately, too many Trump supporters don't care. They believe Trump's "99%" harmless decree, not realizing that, as noted in the article, many survivors have severe complications to the disease.

Too many also argue that underlying conditions killed them, not COVID, which is a childish denial. If a person has two broken femurs and dies in a house fire did they die because of the broken legs or the fire?

Let's stick to the facts. Children are rarely affected by Covid 19 and the degree they transmit the disease is debatable.

If a person dies of a stroke and tests positive for Covid post mortem, the stroke killed them. However, that's not how it's being reported. :palm:

Oh dear no. We already have that... hence #COVID45. lol

Europe has done a far, far better job of curbing the virus than we have. That's why they've banned travelers from the U.S. There is no reason why we too can't have in-person school again. But it's going to take ADULTS being compliant with wearing masks, social distancing, avoiding large groups, and so on. If all these covidiots stop their incessant whining about safety measures, together we can overcome this.

I have serious doubts though if that will ever happen. Reichwingers think their pretend "freedom" to expose others to their cooties is more precious than education.

Let's stick to facts: Kids have been killed by COVID-19 and more will die. How many die by the end of this year depends on how Federal and State authorities manage the problem.

Are you claiming there is a conspiracy by global medical experts to count COVID-19 deaths different from flu, anthrax or smallpox deaths?
