Federal Workers Filing For Government Unemployment Compensation Benefits.

Diversity Makes Greatness
President Trump is willing to hold out as long as needed to force Democrats to cave and deficit-spend additional unbudgeted funds to pay for a wall, that he lied he would get Mexico to pay for, on credit. Nobody knows how long he intends to wait. He has mentioned years. The uncertainty is unsettling for government workers who work for a reason, that reason being to get paid. They have wealth-extraction payments to the super-rich, and groceries they have to pay for somehow.

These workers have begun to file for unemployment compensation, to which they are entitled:

"In Maryland, the total number of federal employees who filed unemployment claims as of Jan. 2 was 637, according to the state's Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulation."

The taxpayers are going to be paying these people whether they work or not. Seems silly to pay them and get no work, but the President has no problem with silly. He is a very silly man. We have a silly man for a leader. And he is very silly.

If they are entitled to it, let them. It is no different than people who get unemployment under other circumstances such as a temporary layoff.

I agree. They are entitled to an income whether we make them work for it or not.

But I thought Trump was against the government handing out free money with no work requirements.

He is our 'Contradictadent.'

Thankfully unemployment insurance is paid for these folks so they are able to obtain it. The reality is, they will now be paid twice, this and then back pay when they return to work.. An inconvenient bonus.

Actually not true.

IF they receive back pay for the period of the shut-down (an uncertainty,) they will have to forfeit unemployment funds paid out for that period.

There hasn't been a shutdown yet where they have not received the back pay for the furlough period.

My friend says if they receive back pay, they will be notified that they have to repay unemployment benefits and they have to return benefits or it is fraud. She stated, in Alaska, this is explained to them when they apply.

Nobody is entitled to an income. Unemployment is an insurance program people who work pay into. People who never pay in not entitled.

Welcome to the real world. Sometimes our employers bail on us. This employer, however, has to do what’s right by the American people, even at the expense of government employees and bureaucrats.

Man, that's going put a helluva lot of immediate and long term FINANCIAL STRESS on the STATES!! They pay it.

Yepper. That's how it works! Now let's see all the cascading NEGATIVE effects to the 'civilian' businesses affected by the government layoffs. The big brain businessman should have figured that out. But then maybe he and his 'followers' think all those businesses are owned and operated by "ILLEGALS".

And don't forget this little 'incidental' fact!!

The Unemployment Compensation for Federal Employees program provides benefits for eligible unemployed former civilian Federal employees. The program is administered by States as agents of the Federal government. This program is operated under the same terms and conditions that apply to regular State Unemployment Insurance (see State Unemployment Insurance). In general, the law of the State in which your last official duty station in Federal civilian service was located will be the State law that determines eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits.

There is no payroll deduction from a Federal employee's wages for unemployment insurance protection. Benefits are paid for by the various Federal agencies.

FYI FLORIDA - (my state) $275 a week X 4 = $1100 a month.

Word of the wise: don’t become dependant on the state.

A government job should never have any doubt of job security as long as the job is being performed properly.
