Federal Agents Spray Tear Gas at Protesters, Children During ICE Raids at California Farms | Common Dreams

It is July. In America, most schools are closed in July. That leaves parents to bring their children where ever they like. Most older kids get jobs. Poorer, rural, older kids work in agriculture.
The kids are illegal immigrants, Wally, brought here to work essentially as slaves. Why do you support organized crime and illegal hiring practices?
No, it is not. Have you ever been to a McDonald's? They employ child labor and it is perfectly legal.
If McDonalds is employing illegal aliens, even if they are kids, they are BREAKING THE LAW.
In agriculture, there are specific exceptions to allow more, and younger child labor.
It is ILLEGAL to hire an illegal alien, Wally. It is ILLEGAL to run a child slavery ring.

Most children are not "unaccompanied minors", and there is no reason to believe these minors were unaccompanied. In fact, they appeared to have their parents with them.

The last I saw, they had legal work visas when hired, so your entire argument is falling apart.
No work visas, Wally.
They are ILLEGAL ALIENS, running a CHILD SLAVERY RING.

Here's the thing:

- Cartel members DO NOT work in the fields.
- Farm field workers do NOT carry weapons (i.e., guns).
- To date, no one in the Cheeto Jeezus flock can provide valid, corroborated, fact based evidence as to the number of "criminal" illegals ICE has snatched up. Nor can they say how many of these folks are "accidently" legal American citizens.
- NYC cops, detectives, DEA or ESU officers DO NOT wear mask in performances of their duties. They deal with gang bangers, drug dealers (national and international), terrorists, mass hate groups, etc. And yeah, there is the occasional death threats, witness intimidations, etc. Yet THEY DO THEIR JOB IN ONE OF THE MOST DIVERSE CITIES IN THE WORLD.

So Holman, Noem, Miller, Hegseth, Vance and the Orange Oaf can blow it out their collective butts!
Blatant lies.

Do you realize how much smaller a Mexican cartel is than the entire stock market... Your claims are farfetched.
Irrelevant. Strawman fallacy. Populum fallacy.
But back to your claim that laws do not apply on islands... How big does the island have to be? I mean North America is a continent sized island.
North America is not an island, Wally. It is a continent, connected by a narrow strip of land to South America. The man-made Canal changes nothing. Child labor laws, slavery laws, and immigration laws apply everywhere in the United States, Wally.

Redefinition fallacy. Strawman fallacies.

Children work in stores that sell cigarettes.
Children cannot sell tobacco products, Wally.
They work in wineries.
Not legally. It is illegal to hire a minor where alcohol is being served.
There is no law against them working in distilleries or breweries.
Yes there is, Wally.
These are 17 year old children, they are allowed to work on farms.
Nine years old is not 17 years old, Wally. Slavery is also illegal, including child slavery.
Now here is a question for you: when they were hired,
They weren't hired, Wally. They are slave laborers.
were the legally allowed to work?
Illegal aliens are NOT legally allowed to work in the United States. Slavery is also illegal in the United States. Slave trade is also illegal in the United States, Wally.
If trump possibly cancelled their visas, then the farm is guilty of absolutely nothing, except maybe marijuana.
No visas, Wally.

We have always had visa overstays, so people who had visas, but now do not have legal rights to stay in America. Now we are seeing massive visa canceling. It might be 3 million visas that have or will be cancelled. That would be 3 million people who a few months ago would have been completely legal to hire, but now cannot be hired. trump is rounding them up.

So Glass House might be right when they say they only hired people legally allowed to work. The people were legally allowed to work when they were hired, and did not have an immediate cancellation date to their visas. Had trump not changed the situation, they would be completely legal to hire today.

There really is not much in the law for what an employer is supposed to do in this situation. Most smaller employers like Glass House would not even know it had happened. Walmart is continuing to employ the immigrants. Amazon is suspending the immigrants.

Asylum seekers were legally allowed to work here, but not allowed to get most welfare benefits. This meant they worked hard, and were willing to work at low paying jobs. Many had experience in agriculture.

A huge group of legal farm workers are now somewhat illegal.
This makes more sense than you.

The kids are illegal immigrants, Wally, brought here to work essentially as slaves.
They were hired by a publicly traded, highly regulated company. I doubt Glass House is bringing people into the USA, much less bringing them here as slaves.

Besides, why would they have 3% of their workforce be slaves? It is such a tiny part of the workforce, it will not bring down the cost of wages, but will be equally badly a crime as 100% of the workforce. Your claim just makes no sense.

It is ILLEGAL to hire an illegal alien
Glass House says everyone was legal when hired. I do not independently know they are telling the truth, but it is very possible. trump has cancelled large numbers of work visas.

It does not appear to be a crime to hire someone legally, and continue to employ them when trump tries to cancel their work visas.

running a CHILD SLAVERY RING.
So ICE is "freeing" the kids by taking them from jobs, and families, confiscating their money, and putting them in cells?

Makes no difference
A publicly traded, highly regulated business is less likely to keep slaves than a Mexican cartel.

So there were about 10 minors among 300+ people, that is about 3% of the workforce. It is nearly impossible to get that number to 5%. Many were there with their families. It really does not seem like much of a gain to Glass House to keep so few slaves.

And where were the chains, or fences? These teens were free to move where ever they want. Now they are not, but before they were.

North America is not an island, Wally. It is a continent, connected by a narrow strip of land to South America. The man-made Canal changes nothing. Child labor laws, slavery laws, and immigration laws apply everywhere in the United States, Wally.
So you are saying North and South America together is one island, and that laws no longer apply because of that?

Children cannot sell tobacco products, Wally.
It might depend on the state, but around here minors can sell tobacco products. It would be difficult to switch in an adult clerk at every convenience store whenever someone wanted a pack of cigs.

I also know that minors are definitely allowed to work on tobacco farms. I doubt there is any specific law restricting minors from working at marijuana farms. Marijuana farms are far more controlled than tobacco farms, so difficult to steal from.

It is illegal to hire a minor where alcohol is being served.
Again, I guess it depends on the state, but everywhere around here there are minors working at restaurants that serve alcohol.

Nine years old is not 17 years old
There were between 9 to 14 minors working at Glass House, not 9 year old workers.

Here is a picture of the minors, they hardly look 9 years old to me:
