You jumped into the middle of a conversation that had almost nothing to do w/ the significance of it. USPercentage was stupidly trying to show that it was less than 2%, so I was just correcting him.

One explanation is, polled citizens were simply too ashamed to confess their preference for Trump, and so replied inaccurately to poll questions.

Perhaps a more important question:
should public opinion polling on presidential candidate races be restricted, either by self-imposed suspension by the polling agencies themselves, or as regulated by such agencies as the FCC?

Would we be better off if election day arrived; and the voters had no poll-driven expectation of the winner? Might that help promote a more accurate reflection of the mood of the country in the election outcome? Meaning, if right or wrong public opinion polls were predicting a Trump landslide for weeks before the election, would Hillary have won?
And if so, would that have been better.

Not so much if you understand the significance of scale.

If you go to slice a pie in half but accidentally short one side 2%, you are actually a pretty accurate pie slicer. Most people wouldn't notice one side was bigger than the other.

The amount Hillary won the popular vote by is insignificant, relative to the size of the total vote. I bet you can't say it lol.

And yet 107,000 votes in 3 states is some huge difference that Dems have to learn all kinds of lessons from, and a mandate for Trump.

Spare me your nonsense double standard. America isn't a pie. Trump lost by an historic # in the popular vote for a winning candidate, and - back to the OP - the 2% was basically in line w/ most national polls.

I'm not sure you grasp the constitution either.

The only thing that matters in a presidential election are the number of electoral votes. I'm not a big proponent of mandates, but Hillary got thumped in the EC.

Some of the polls may have been close on the popular margin [once they had to tighten up after trying to depress republican turnout for months] but they absolutely whiffed, on the EC.

You addressed the problem. Clinton lost to the Constitution and the rule of law....now you are suggesting that she is somehow better because she got more votes in liberal strong holds...the very reason that the Electoral College was established via a Constitutional Mandate. Its vividly clear which party supports and defends the Constitution and which party considers it nothing but a firewall that must be removed in order to morph this Republic into another Social nightmare ending in violent revolution.

And why are the people ignoring the popular vote? Just look to Michigan for the answer....some democrat votes were proven to have been counted up to 6 six times. Are you suggesting this could not have happened in other liberal strongholds? Really? Why not have a recount where the evidence points to corruption?
