Electricity gets you options. A lot is made that you can get electricity from gasoline easily, but think about this: can you get gasoline from electricity? If you do not have easy access to electricity through the grid(rare, but possible), you can easily use a portable generator to generate electricity from gasoline. If you do not have gasoline, but are connected to the electrical grid, you still do not have gasoline. If gasoline prices go up, but you still have cheap hydro electric power, you are going to have to pay through the nose for gasoline.

And if the oil companies who control how much the gas stations can charge jack up the prices, you are stuck paying higher prices or going nowhere.... Assuming you do not have an electric car.

Hydroelectric power isn't available everywhere. In fact, it's quite limited. A portable generator using gasoline to charge your car is going to set you back $500 or more. Then you have to haul it to where you're going to use it. That means you better own a pickup truck, not a car.

Did you forget that the Socialist Dictatorship of the Territory of California is banning gasoline cars??
CO2 is not pollution. Water vapor is not pollution. EVs use almost twice as much energy to go the same distance as a gasoline car. That electricity just appear out of nowhere. It has to be generated. Most power plants are natural gas or coal.

Now many die in lithium mining operations? How many die transporting lithium? How many children have died working under slavery conditions mining cobalt? How many have died mining the nickel? How many have died mining the bauxite? Or transporting any of these materials, or manufacturing the batteries themselves, or died putting them into cars, or died driving these cars?

Last year, six people died from drilling oil. Three have died refining it. A few have died from gasoline, mostly by drinking it.

This is what I meant when I said California is importing most of their electricity from the WRIC now. Those lines are heavily overloaded. It won't take much for one to fail, and the WRIC won't let that extend outward to the rest of the WRIC. They will disconnect (shed the load) of California instead.
